Will having studied a various amount of courses outside a major field, really educate a student? This cant be looked at either as if its true, or if its false. I would say that this is partially true and I mostly agree with this claim. It has its agreeabe side as well as reasons to why I would disagree with it. Here I will explain in 2 reasons why I agree and a reason to why I may disagree.

Learing outside courses, gives you an overall understanding and a well rounded education of lifes necessities. Having been provided these classes, students are able to not focus primarily on one topic or field of studies, but also learn of how other courses and topics may play a role in regards to the current field of study they are in to. For over the years the medical field has been expanding and jobs in the medical field have been growing and will always have a future, well learning such courses such as history will show us how medicine becomes more and more practical and helpful. It also can teach students how different pandemics and flues may have  been gone about at a certain time period prior to the medical advances, making students think more outside the box and expand ideas they learn on. This will benefit the medical field and students in the long run with having a more well rounded education.

Having these variety of courses, also allows students to learn things they have not known before or studied, and that could cause an interest in their studies. Students could potentially get interested in topics they have not thought about before and with having the education of a variety of courses, can also help them decide on a career path and in their studies. With the amount of classes being added every year and variety of educations you can get, students may not even heard of courses such as nutrition classes, zoology courses, and many more not so mainstream ideas, that could interest students in learning about.

However, having such outside courses could steer students away from learning what they are in the field for and have these variety classes take up more time and energy from their every day life. Instead of focusing on what the students primary courses are in regards to their future career, they could be distracted and have to shift focus on courses that are not their primary ones, therefore taking away time from learning what they are initially in school for. Yes they could become truly educated, but they might lose focus and not study the material they primarily are focusing on.

Though this topic is pretty complex and can be looked at both ways, it comes down to personal preference if students want to expand their knowledge and studies. Some students may want to have a variety of outsided courses, because it could be interesting, yet for others it could just distract them from what is important to them. Having this requirement by universities could be used in pre graduate programs to let students have a broader education and an overall truer education, and then focus on same field courses in graduate programs.
