Versailles, a palace that contains over 2,000 rooms. Versailles has always been referred to as the great palace, but no one has really seen it before. It always makes people curious what the inside of Versailles looks like since the building is so isolated. Is it full of silver and gold? Or does it seem like a cozy house inside?

After the palace was completed in 1682, King Louis the XIV moved the royal court to the palace of Versailles. Afterward, the nobles moved into the palace as well. It was built to demonstrate his wealth and power. The palace does look luxurious, but is the inside of the palace as extravagant as the outside?

From the outside of Versailles, it looks luxurious and beautiful. Even the gate is made of gold. The garden in Versailles is beautiful. There are two large fountains in front of the building. The water for the fountain is 50 times as much as the used of the peasants. This building is called the most expensive palace for a reason.

Firstly, let’s look at the bedroom of king Louis XIV. His bedroom is full of gold and his bed is made from expensive fabric. Each morning the servants would wake him up, and the nobles would come to greet him. This room really shows his power and wealth.

In this palace, there is only one bathroom. Inside the bathroom, there is a bathtub that is made out of a piece of marble. The bathtub is made for the king’s favorite mistress. They would sit in their bath playing cards or just relaxing.

One of the most important parts of Versailles is the hall of mirrors. It had a total of 357 mirrors. The ceiling of the hall was covered with paintings painted by Jean- Baptiste de Champaigne. He was one of the king’s most favorite painters.

This gorgeous palace covered roughly 22 kilometers of Versailles. Among the 2,000 rooms in the palace, most belong to nobles and government officials. King Louis XIV's power in this country is truly reflected in this palace.
