Contrary to what most people think, parents picking their kids pathway isn’t as bad as most kids would let it off to be. Most college kids that pick their own pathway end up switching out because they don’t like the pathway as much as they thought they would. However, if your parents pick the pathway, they will most likely pick something they know you are interested in, but they will make sure you can succeed in that pathway. While it could prevent a good bond with their parents, parents should pick their children’s pathway because they know how stressful it can be, they just want the best for you, and they have already been to college therefore they know what you should or shouldn’t take.

The first reason I think parents should pick the kids pathway is because they know how stressful picking a pathway can be. High school students who are seniors and or juniors stress basically the whole year about what college to go to, am I ever going to get excepted, and mainly what pathway to take. If the parents get to just pick the pathway, then maybe they will get through high school with good grades and a less stressful experience. More kids are likely to go to college if their parents pick the pathway, because in the end they can still do what they want they just have a simple factor that takes forever to figure out done for them.

The second reason I think parents should pick their kids pathway is because they just want the best for you. Your parents wouldn’t pick a pathway they don’t think you couldn’t accomplish because they aren’t going to take all their time trying to find a pathway just for them to set you up for failure. They know what you are interested in plus they know what you can and can’t accomplish so therefore, they will pick one that you can finish and most likely end up liking. They want to see you succeed so they are going to find something that will be easy but not too easy because you still need to learn new things. All parents want to do is see their child succeed in life.

The final reason I think parents should pick their kids pathway is because they have been through college therefore, they know what to expect. Your parents know how stressful and complicating picking a pathway can be because at one point and time they were 18 and ready to go to college as well. When picking a pathway your parent isn’t going to put you in something they wouldn’t have put themselves through because college in general isn’t easy at all. If you let your parents pick your pathway, they will make sure it fits up to your standers because they wouldn’t want to go into college with a pathway that’s completely different than what they would have ever thought of. Parents picking your pathway just makes it better for you because they know how college is time you on the other hand don’t.

In conclusion, parents should pick their kids pathway. So many good outcomes come from your parents picking their kids pathway and those are listed above. Most people would say its bad because of the fact they don’t get to be what they want but in the end they will probably like what their parents pick because the parents won’t set them up for failure. If it was me and my parents wanted to pick my pathway, I would be okay with it if they knew stuff about college, yet they don’t so therefore I’m picking my own. Therefore, parents picking their kids pathway isn’t that bad at all it helps the kid more than anything.
