To reflect on whether I have learned to think or have I learned to believe, may not be either learned or believe but rather both. Among the learning we have done these few weeks, the knowledge that was presented tends to be overwhelming, eye-opening and overall so deeply impacting.

Beginning with the incredible amount of times the fourteenth amendment has to be ratified in order for it to be valid in the life of all American born citizens, leading us to realize that our political leaders to this day are having to constantly be reminded that we as humans have human rights we are born with. It is ridiculous that we the people have had to repeatedly voice the injustice we are facing within our own legal system. A legal system built to protect the people of America, not exploit them, the worst part of it all is that we are targeted and punished if we are acting outside the guidelines of their jurisdiction. One can see how this could all be so many overwhelming thoughts and feelings all at once for our first week of work. This taught me to think about what is really going on, and how we are living in a system made for one part of our population to flourish. It is difficult to actually understand the feeling of such discrmination many people in the Black community had to endure. All I come to think about is how powerful their hearts and minds had to be to not act in reflection of others actions taken upon them. My respect and gratitude to everyone that had to suffer through one of many rough and dark patches in American History.

A challenge I encountered with our course material will have to be the injustice we still live with  and accept to live by till this day. Unfair does not even begin to describe the situation many native tribes were forced to live through. The relevance in these stories did not remain when that should have. Daily there is a new missing person case filed in the areas where Native American tribes used to reside. The worst part of it all is that if these missing people are ever found it is unlikely to be alive. Why is it that so many of the navtive population continues to fall short from government support? Why does America, the promised land, continue to fail its people? Why can we not come together as humans to help one another through our journey?

Recently news and social media has been swarmed with information and awareness on the case of Gabby Petito. It is traffic to see a life gone at a young age, gone in such a horrific way. The beauty of this situation is the unity her disappearance brought to us through social interaction, in the search for Gabby Petito. Thorough investigations were being done and shared on social media app “tic tok,”  the evidence presented in the video turned out to be a key factor which lead to the discovery of Gabby Petitos remains. It was a sad and unwanted ending to the search for Gabby and I am glad we are still demanding justice for her death. This entire situation was so eye-opening at how powerful we are when we all work together in order to help one another. It was so deeply impacting to relize the millions of undocumented children that are reported missing, remain held in constentation camp styled fasilitties and we do nothing, when we could easily come together to help thousands.

To conclude, America continues to provide evidence as to how and where their system continues to fall and fail us as a society.  The government's inability to provide helpful and well thought out solutions have been repetitively established in their favor. This is something obvious in our history's timeline, due to the continuation of injustice and unlawful trials targeting certain racial groups that only grows and is still being fed today. We have been witness to our own greatness when working together and we have also had to witness the disrimination and shame this government tries to enforce and make common upon us. We do not have to abide by the rules made by a congress not created to serve us.
