I have dreamed of professionalizing in many things after school like becoming an athlete or an office worker but as of right now my mind is revolving around the decision of becoming an athlete, specifically an NBA player.

For starters, The annual pay of an average NBA athlete is 8.32 million U.S. dollars a year. As of the 90s, the median NBA salary presented was 74% of the average salary, it then peaked at 84% in the 1993-94 season. In addition, the seasons in 2001 to 2010, the median salary accounted for 62% of the average, but from 2011 to 2022 it fell down to 55%. A prime example of this statistic is Stephen Curry. He is a 7 time all star, 3 time championship winner and a member of the 50/40/90 club. Stephen received his first paycheck in his rookie season for 2.7 million U.S. dollars, after some time mixed with ups and downs he is now receiving 45.78 million U.S. dollars as of the 2021-21 season and is the highest paid player in the NBA. Stephen is also estimated to have earned 254.73 million U.S. dollars after his 4 year contract.

Another reason I dream to make it to the NBA is to have fun. Many people say one doesn’t have a good job if they don't enjoy it, mental diseases like depression and anxiety seem to appear in jobs commonly. For example, public and private transit workers have the highest depression rate with a whopping 16.2%. As a matter of fact,  One study of more than 900 NCAA athletes found that 33% of athletes with an injury are depressed and 40% of NBA players are depressed. In contrast,Endorphins may boost your mood, promote relaxation, and reduce pain. A player who had experienced depression was Denis Rodman, a former teammate of Michael Jordan who was enlisted on the 1995-98 Chicago Bulls roster. Prior to his prime years on the bulls he was on the Detroit pistons Dennis has been very candid about his longtime battle with depression, and the "betrayals" from the team, which included Chuck Daly's leave as head coach, which hurt the young athlete deeply. Dennis called Chuck one of his "four fathers" and developed a strong bond with the coach, so his departure was understandably very difficult for Rodman to deal with, causing him to feel alone and attempting suicide. Today Dennis is known as the NBA’s Bad boy due to his outrageous attitude and unique characteristics.

The final reason I dream to be in the NBA is my image. As a toddler I have weighed a little over the median weight but lower than the obese weight I was constanly becoming Jealous of all my friends bodys who were normal and I had always been embarrassed to cast off my shirts. Basketball is a sport and all are  any form of competitive physical activity or game that aims to use, maintain or improve physical ability and skills while providing enjoyment. Basketball is a game where height is an advantage, it is played with your whole body running back and forth in a 91 foot court where you perform jumping and shooting the ball. I chose basketball because running is good for humans because it improves aerobic fitness which is high intensity exercise and it helps with losing weight. I am not a very tall person for I am 5’5 ft so to me  Basketball is considered a sport where IQ and speed are needed to outperform others, as well as stamina.

To conclude, The making of an NBA athlete may be difficult and long but I believe making it to the NBA will be beneficial to me for the pay, entertainment and image.
