Personal Narrative Essay: Leaders From My Life

A leader is a person who’s in charge of a group of people and uses admirable qualities to drive/motivate their group. My opinion on leadership is someone who leads with respect, inspiration, and confidence. A leader leads by example and helps others improve for the good. Someone who leads always gives helpful feedback to others with a positive attitude. Examples of supportive leaders from my life include my karate teacher, my parents, and my therapist.

First, my karate teacher is like my compass. He always helps me out when I'm faced with a challenge or a concern.  He shows respect to me and others and has a sense of humor. When I was testing for my green belt, I kept messing up and felt like giving up. However, he kept helping me through it. On every occasion, he is always leading me and others with a positive can-do attitude. He has helped me to become resilient and has shown me techniques to defend myself in every situation.

Next, my parents are like pockets of sunshine and always have my back. Even when they ground me for wrongdoing, they always do so to teach me a lesson on what's wrong and what’s right. Whenever I have a rough day and come home upset, they help me feel good. They have helped me overcome fears and have helped me through rough stages of my life. They have helped me flourish like a flower.

Finally, my therapist has shown me that life isn’t always sour. she has helped show me that positivity is always by my side and that I can do anything with a smile on my face. Every time I see her, she always helps me unload my brain. She always listens to me with respect. She also helps me feel good with her sense of humor. She has taught me how to deal with anxiety and has shown me techniques I can use to better myself for myself and others.

As a result, I have learned that being a leader casts a good influence on others and society as a whole. My influencers have shown me to always give people respect, honesty, and inspiration. They have helped me to find a solution to every problem, and have helped me to become successful. They have shown me to lead by example and with respect. Even as I grow, they are always there to help me better myself. I’ll use these lessons to improve myself as a person and better myself as a citizen. I can use these leadership qualities shown to me to drive others onto the path to success. I’ll embody these characteristics and lead others to help them strive for their best.
