My love for medicine stemmed from the complexity and intricacy of the human body, however my own personal experiences reinforced my dession to persue a degree in medicne. The loss of my cousin at an adolescent age opened my eyes to the reality of the unpredictable fallibility of the body. Medicine will provide me the opportunity to delve into the illimitable intricacies of the most immense mystery bestowed to man, the human body. I am captivated by medicine offering the opportunity for lifelong learning in a perpetually expanding field. While visiting my cousin in the hospital,, I witnesseded the astonishing patient care and compassionate qualities the medical staff provides and possess. Having the competency to ameliorate the quality of one’s life, not only through the medical treatment itself but through patient contact, enthuses me about medicine.  An online interactive video platform called observe GP, created by the royal college of general practitioners, has allowed me to further my understanding surrounding general practice. I was able to view several patient consultations on this platform. I learned the value of heedfully listening and understanding the patients' concerns. I was able to observe the doctor’s tone, as they verbalized with empathetic kind words, and reassured the patients. As a result, many patients feel at ease divulging personal information, this allowed me to understand the importance of patient confidentiality.  Reading books by Henry marsh has thought me that medicine is a lifelong endeavor that is both emotionally and intellectually demanding. Studying chemistry and biology in school has given me a greater appreciation for science and has allowed me to deepen my knowledge surrounding the sciences.While participating in online virtual case study sessions I was able to further my interest in medicine. I was given the opportunity to assess cases alongside the other participants, suggesting possible treatment options and diagnoses. These sessions allowed me to learn several general conditions and treatment options.  Volunteering as a coach for gymnast of all ages allowed me to fortify my communication and leadership skills. Providing feedback to parents regarding the progress of their children granted me the opportunity communicate concisely and confidently. This leadership position allowed me to effectively manage my athletes by assigning tasks to each group and coaching them on the importance of team work.  In medicine, communication, problem-solving skills and team work are crucial. In my part-time job, I am constantly interacting with customers by listening to their concerns and respectfully reciprocating responses. I am continuously finding ways to solve problems that may occur alongside my team.During my constructive seven years as a competitive artistic gymnast, I learned self-discipline, determination and to perform well under pressure. From a young age this has allowed me to build confidence, and time management skills.  I believe my experiences over the years have allowed me to deepen my profound appreciation for science and my ambition to have an impact in one’s life. A future in medicine will provide me with the opportunity to flourish in a field amalgamated with science and the art of ethics.
