Society has always used punishments to deter criminals from breaking the law. Well, the death penalty is no different. The method of killing unlawful people has been used as capital punishment, and dates back to the Eighteenth Century B.C. The strongest and most logical punishment that we can use to help reduce heinous crimes is the death penalty. Whatever the case is, the death penalty should stay. Having this punishment is good because it prevents people from making the same mistake twice. Also, because it is fair for the law-breakers who deserve it.

There are many ways that the death penalty prevents criminals from continuing to commit crimes. Paul Goodman, a freelance writer who has a teaching qualification to educate others believes that passing away is horrifying, and that capital punishment is effective at doing it’s job of prevention and discoragement. He says, “The most frightening thing for a human being is to lose their life; therefore, the death penalty is the best detterent when it comes to discouraging people from carrying out the worst crimes”(Goodman). This is important because fools learn from their own mistakes, while smart people learn from other’s mistakes and adjust accordingly. If someone sees that another person is being executed for something that they are planning to do, they will most likely stop because the same thing will happen to them if they don’t. As expressed, the death penalty forces people to think before they do anything illegal and it also prevents people from continuing to commit crimes.

Only insane people think that murderers can get off the hook and just serve time in jail, only to learn nothing and continue to repeat what they did once they're free. It’s simple, guilty people deserve to be punished based on what their crime is. Criminals will always be criminals, no matter how much time they spend in solitary confinement. Basically, killers have violated their human rights when they harmed someone, including the right to live themselves. BBC believes that crime and punishment are related and have a direct correlation with each other. According to BBC, “Each criminal should get what their crime deserves and in the case of a murderer what their crime deserves is death”(BBC). This means that whatever you do should also be returned to you, this is why if you hurt someone, you should be hurt as well.

In conclusion, it is obvious that instead of getting rid of this punishment, we use it as a prevention and a solution to future and current crimes. It should never go. After all, you or someone you know could be the victim of one of these killers. At that point, you would want the killer to get more than just a pity bar around them.
