Persuasive Essay Sample: Benefits of In-Person Learning

Education is the light that guides us towards our destination and enables us to carry on the precious wealth of knowledge for generations. Over generations, we have adopted a multitude of methods of learning yet none have been as effective as traditional learning in a physical classroom. This method has proved effective across most countries and has been normalized in modern society. We should not be the ones to break this tradition of teaching our kids like this, it can drastically alter the way students learn today.

Traditional classes offer interactions with teachers and classmates. With the absence of learning in an actual school, it becomes much more challenging for a student to develop socially and as such, mentally. Along with making it difficult for students to have those interactions with others at the school, the absence of school interactions makes learning more difficult as well.

Most students were already comfortable learning in person and they may not feel so comfortable learning online.

Another downside of having school virtually is a large lack of order which consequently results in a lack of focus among the students too. In school students are taught not to sleep, eat or essentially do anything distracting. This sense of order and rules in the classroom cause students to be far less distracted in class as they don’t have many options but to focus. Students learning virtually on contrast can do nearly anything behind their camera even if it violates the rules no one will be able to enforce them and because of this students online are much more susceptible to getting distracted. Because of this students taught in person will learn far easier than those taught online.

Yet another big flaw in online learning is the inconsistencies it carries with it. In a physical classroom, you are able to ask for help at any time and receive a more direct answer. In an online class, you may have to wait a bit longer to get the help you need plus you or your teacher may have internet issues which hinders your ability to learn and get assistance ever so more. Internet issues don’t only apply to getting help also, they can be a serious annoyance and problem in virtual learning in general.

I strongly believe that kids should continue to learn in person (with the proper safety precautions of course) rather than continue learning virtually. I think that traditional teaching can provide more effective education and help better prepare our students to accomplish their goals too.
