Have you ever heard parents say “teenagers are SO dramatic!”  Well, they aren’t wrong, but they are also not right.  Being a teenager is pretty tough.  There is so much stress from school, sports, and relationships.  Also, siblings can annoy teens so easily by just speaking a phrase!   Lastly, teenagers also have lots of hormones that give them lots of mood swings.  Sometimes just these few things make it seem really difficult to be a teen.  I think that being a teenager is very strenuous.

Firstly, teenagers have a lot of stress on their backs.  Some factors of this stress are a school, sports, relationships, their future, and all of their responsibilities.  School gives a lot of stress because most teens are procrastinators.  When it comes time to turn an assignment in, some people are finishing it last second!  This is a terrible tactic and most people know that, yet teens still do it.  In sports, people are depending on you or you are depending on yourself.  Lots of anxiety can come from this since you need to be responsible and get to all your practices and all your games AND do school work.  If you think that this is a lot, then get ready, because this is just the beginning.  Teenagers also worry about their relationships.  If you have ever had a girlfriend or boyfriend and you want to break up with them, you know how it feels.  You know you are going to feel guilty, but you also want to take off the stress of the relationship.  Ugh.  Finally, we got all those responsibilities to take care of.  Maybe it's your job to feed your pets or do the dishes or vacuum the carpet once every week.  These can put stress on teens all the time since they might remember “Oh, I have to clean,” but then forget to do it later.  Stress is a HUGE factor that makes teen life difficult.

Next, most teens have 1 or more siblings.  For example, I have 3 younger sisters!  Siblings will annoy some teens without even knowing it.  Siblings are like a knife and you are the balloon filled with confetti.  The only thing is, is that all that confetti is all of your anger and stress and frustration.  When siblings pop that balloon, well, then it gets heated.  All of that confetti comes flying out and spreads everywhere!  You might hurt your sibling’s or your friend’s feelings without meaning to.  Also, confetti is very hard to pick up, just like your emotions.  Once you’ve let all that anger out it’s hard for you to go and say sorry to everyone.  If only you hadn’t been as sensitive as that balloon.  Well, don’t feel down about it, because lots of teens are like that.  Anger is a hard emotion to control, trust me, but there are some tactics that you can learn to tone it down a bit.  Being a teenager is pretty difficult since you have to ignore annoying siblings constantly.

Finally, every teen has plenty of mood swings.  Mood swings are when a person's feelings change suddenly for no apparent reason.  For example, somebody could be jumping for joy one moment, then be angry and frustrated the next.  Some people may argue that mood swings can make you go from angry to happy also, but that is a pretty rare case.   Mood swings can confuse your friends and family since your mood is always changing.  This can be awfully annoying since you might hurt a friend's feelings and then feel bad about it later.  Teens have to struggle with these mood swings all the time.

This shows that being a teen is difficult in many ways.  There is SO much stress put on every teenager at school.  Most teens have siblings that are annoying, even though they are not trying to annoy you.  Also, teens have lots of mood swings.  Some people argue that being a teen is easy since they find it easy to handle stress and control their emotions.  I strongly disagree with this though because most teens don’t know these skills.  Now that you know what teens have to go through do you think that you would want to be a teenager for seven years?
