A human behavior is often a subject to interest to psychiatrists, psychologists and many researchers who seem to get study this subject. A definite reason for human behavior is very arduous task for a normal person to determine. However, a person’s behavior is often a reflection of his personality and thinking pattern. The prompt suggests that a person’s behavior is determined by external forces of which they have no control over. In my opinion, I disagree with this suggestion and believe that blaming the external forces for a person’s behavior is not a viable point for the given reasons.

We might agree to the fact that certain emotions like love, anger, happiness is an internal feeling yet in majority it’s the external influences which shape up these feelings in general. However, in a recent research suggested such emotions need not be dependent on the external influences and a person can have these issues build upon within himself. For example, the modern office cultures and big multinational corporates tend to make their employees work hard, create competition within the employees for better results which results in frustration, anger within people. However, this dynamic between employer and employee throughout the ancient history has always been of such fashion or even worse in some cases. There are many happiness programs which run to create a soporific environment for such individuals to be in, or even meditation programs which promotes peace and happiness within.  An individual can also seek out to attend a stand-up comedy show or movie to relax and cool his mind. The instance stated might revolve more around emotions but it is always the emotions of a person which is responsible for a person’s behavior. Emotions can not only effect a person’s behavior but also determine their thought process which then also affects a person’s behavior. A person’s behavior is often dependent upon emotions and thought process and emotions can be positive or negative but can often be controlled by an individual and practice on emotions which are positive to inculcate a positive behavior and good thinking.

A person’s behavior positive or negative is often also a result of bias or prejudice which an individual has towards a subject. For instance let us dive back into our school days and remember that one friend who always used to score better marks than you in his academics. Many of us remember feeling jealous of this friend of our. Jealousy is often a negative internal feeling which arises within us when we see others succeeding and us failing. We might have stopped talking to that friend of our or they might have stopped talking to us which might exude a behavior of superiority within their behavior. The above example though might make us remember that feeling of ours and make us feel awkward about it today, but its very important to understand that in the above instance a bias was created within our minds and their minds about an individual’s inferiority and superiority which is often a very negative parameter to judge someone upon. Research has also proven the fact that forming a bias and having such thoughts within often results in the same behavior being displayed outside which is easily assessable for another person. Behavior of loudly talking , verbally abusing, belittling are often the most negative traits which a person forms due to their personal prejudice towards the person or the subject. This prejudice and bias which is often a result of a person’s internal thinking can always be mitigated and be removed if a person follows a balanced thinking and be grounded to reality which is actually the force permeating around and out of our control.

Even if for a moment, we assume that the external forces are largely responsible for an individual’s behavior, then we might argue that external situations have been demanding always and will always be. Right from giving the best performance in your organization to get that promotion to getting a good education, the external influences have always been demanding and will always be. Such pressures might induce intense stress and frustrations but its always within an individuals scope to control himself and not budge into such behavior. A person is always and will always be responsible for his behavior.
