Do you ever think about the positive effects of music on our well-being? We often take music just as fun and think of it as a form of entertainment just like many other forms. But when we exert a deep insight, we get to know that music is a thing far beyond just entertainment. Besides short-term relaxation, it provides a lot of long-term mental and physical benefits and improves your personality. Researches show that music has tremendous effects on our memory. It helps in treating mental illness, helps to lower anxiety, reduces the chances of heart diseases, and gives an energetic touch to our personality.

What can music do in improving your mental health is that it can reduce your stress and can give you a breath of comfort. It improves blood flow in ways similar to statins (a medicine that reduces LDL in the blood) and lowers your levels of stress-related hormones like cortisol and ease pain. They also found that a piece of upbeat music can improve the speed of understanding complex information and speeds up the problem-solving process. It means music can give you a healthy and stress-free life by positively affecting your mental health.

Music also plays a very important role in maintaining your physical health. It improves your cardiovascular health and reduces the chances of heart-related diseases. It produces endorphins in the brain, a Harmon, which relieve stress and pain and significantly reduce the chances of a heart attack. It plays an important role in improving the immune system. It increases platelet production, stimulates lymphocytes, and cell protection against certain diseases. Scientists have seen that music can reduce the levels of cortisol, the stress hormone, responsible for weakening our immune system. Weakening makes us more likely to suffer from heart problems, learning problems, low bone density, and increased blood pressure. It can regulate your blood pressure and reduce the chances of Hypertension (high blood pressure) which can protect against many fatal diseases like stroke and heart failure. Music can improve your sleeping habits. Thirty minutes of listing to cheerful music before going to bed produce Melatonin which helps you to get a peaceful sleep. Thus, music can significantly improve our physical health by protecting us from many diseases.

In addition to providing a healthy and relaxed life, music can play a vital role in shaping up your personality. Researchers at the The University of Groningen showed in an experiment that listening to music not only change mood but also change what people notice. It can be a powerful way to explore and comprehend our deepest emotions. It can improve our personality traits in a way that provides it a vibrant and charismatic touch. Listing to music can improve your mood which gives a fresh and energetic look which are important traits of a charming personality. It can also make you more confident and improve your communication skills. It spurs creativity and can develop a revolutionary thinking habit. It can improve your ability to tolerate and protect you from being egoistic. It makes you calm by providing a feeling of relaxation. So, by providing all such and many other health benefits it helps a person to remain energetic full of potential throughout his/her life.

As researches prove that people who used to listen to music are good at their memory, have more learning ability, are more active in their routine works, have good mental and physical health, and have more humble and energetic personalities, as compared to those who don’t. So, we can say that music is not just a simple form of entertainment rather it is a crucial component in maintaining a healthy life.
