Promise Rings and Why We Should All Be Giving Them (Essay Example)
In the beginning of our relationship, the idea of getting someone an object that has meaning was a confusing topic for me. I never even knew what a promise ring was until you and I got together. You told me that it was a sign of commitment to the relationship, and that you intended on marrying the person you gave one to. There has to be multiple reasons for giving someone a promise ring, and that made me think of all the reasons I would give you one.
There are hundreds of reasons that I can think of to get you a promise ring, and one of the main reasons is the way you have treated me. Although just saying that isn’t enough to prove, let me explain a little bit. When we got together, and still now, it feels like you fully understand me as a person. You make sure to keep me safe, and make sure my feelings are heard no matter what. You always find time throughout the day to make sure we get the time to talk, and even express how we feel about certain things. You have shown me what it means to trust someone completely, be fully comfortable with another human, and to be myself. I haven’t felt like myself in almost 4 years, and when you came around, I knew I wanted you in my life forever, I knew you would be the person I gave a promise ring to.
The second main reason I know I want to give you a promise ring is because of the love I have for you. Sure you can make me feel love, but I wouldn’t give a promise ring to someone I didn’t want to marry. I have never loved another human more than I love you. Talking to you is the highlight of my day, everyday, and being with you is my favorite thing to do. I love making memories with you, I love laughing with you, I love everything about you. I fell in love with your mind, and that's all I needed to fall in love with, I was attached when we were simply just friends. I always wanted to keep you in my life forever, and now that we are together, I want to love you forever. I love being in your arms whenever you give me a hug, it feels like a hug from my grandmother, I love doing nothing but sleeping all day with you, I feel comfortable around you. I love the way I never get tired of you, I HATE people, but I can't get enough of you. I can’t believe how lucky I got with such a perfect angel, but I am always going to want it to be you.
Overall, these past 2-ish years with you in my life have been nothing short of perfection. I feel like the luckiest person in the world knowing I can wake up to someone who truly cares about me, and who I truly care about myself. The 7 months we have been together have been pure bliss, and I want it to be you that I love forever. I now know what it means to give someone a promise ring, and I also know that it's going to be you that I want to give that promise ring to. To be committed to you, to us, and I will always want it to be you that I marry. <3
