Would you climb the tallest mountain in the world? There can be some benefits and drawbacks of it. Mount Everest is the tallest Mountain in the world. In passage 1 "The world's Highest Mountain", Sir Edmund and Tenzing Norgay became the first people known to reach the summit of Mount Everest and set a record. In passage 2 "A Mountain of Garbage" climbers left behind trash as a result it is turning into a mountain of garage. Some people accomplish something and it benefits from it, but some some people also harm other people and cause a drawback.

There are some benefits of climbing Mount Everest. In passage 1  "The World's Highest Mountain" states, "Shortly after the successful climb, the newly crowned Queen Elizabeth II knighted Hillary. As a result the beekeeper from New Zealand became Sir Edmund Hillary. In Nepal Norgay was a true national hero who was awarded the Star of Nepal by that country’s king." (The World's Highest Mountain, paragraph 5). This shows that after both climbers reached the summit of the mountain there got rewarded for it. Based on the passage 2 "A Mountain of Garbage" states, "It’s been over 60 years since Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay became the first climbers to reach the summit of Mount Everest. Since that time, many other climbers have set the same goal for themselves."( A Mountain of Garbage, paragraph 1). This helps us understand that many climbers want to accomplish the same goal as Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay. While some people use people climb for their own benefit some might not.

There are some drawbacks of climbing Mount Everest. In passage 2 "A Mountain of Garbage" states, "In doing so they’ve carried needed supplies up the mountain with them. Unfortunately, many of these materials haven’t made their way back down again. As a result Everest has been turning more and more into a mountain of garbage." (A Mountain of Garbage, paragraph 1 ). This proves that climbers are leaving behind trash and creating pollution on the mountain. According to Source 2 "A Mountain of Garbage" sates, "By mid-2013, a total of nearly 4,000 people had reached the mountain’s summit. With that number of people comes an even greater amount of food containers, tents, empty oxygen canisters, and even human waste. Most of these materials get left behind on the mountain." (A Mountain of Garbage, paragraph 2). This supports that many people have climbed Mount Everest but also left behind so much trash. Some people cause trouble for other people while some of them try to help the environment.

While some people cause other people harm others help the environment improve. According to passage 2 it states "Since the expedition’s start, climbers have removed more than 13 tons of garbage from Everest. In 2013, a joint effort by Indian and Nepalese military personnel resulted in the additional removal of two tons of waste from the mountain."( A Mountain of Garbage, paragraph2). This evidence shows that climbers have left trash behind and other people have to pay for their consequences. Based on passage 1 it states "Hillary was also deeply concerned about the environment. He helped establish reforestation programs in Nepal. He also demanded that mountain climbers clean up the garbage that often got left behind on Mount Everest—materials like used oxygen bottles, which climbers would discard because of their weight." This proves that Hillary was concerned about the environment to so he installed  reforestation programs. Climbing a mountain can effect you in many ways.

There are many pros and cons of climbing Mount Everest. Some benefits can help accomplish something and some drawbacks can harm other people. Many people are trying to help to improve environment.
