The aspect of diverse mobility, autonomous driving, and connectivity makes the car a more favorable and valuable mode of transportation. From the current scenario, it is evident there are more cars are in use than past. Based on this, car numbers may increase over the next twenty years. However, the drastic climate change due to pollution, rising traffic, and fuel price present an alternate possibility. I firmly believe the number of cars will reduce in the next twenty years to come. In the following couple of paragraphs, I will substantiate my claim.

Firstly, Car pollution is one of the major causes of global warming. According to the Environment Protection Agency's(EPA) estimation in 2019, vehicles are responsible for approximately 29 percent of greenhouse gas emissions highest among other factors. The burning of petroleum-based products, like gasoline, diesel, and other crude oil is the prime source of CO2 emissions. Nowadays, people are more aware of the adverse effects of pollution on the environment. Countries are adapting to public transportation strategies to control hazardous impacts on the environment and reduce pollution caused by private ownership of cars. Using public transportation instead of traveling by car for about 20 miles every day can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 20 pounds per day. Public transport not only helps to protect the environment but also relieves them of long-distance driving-induced stress. This awareness and concern for environmental safety, In my opinion, will motivate people to adopt public transport rather than driving cars.

Secondly, the increase in traffic congestion and rising fuel costs will play another important role in reducing people who use cars. Car is a popular vehicle in the modern household. So an increasing number of car users is the prime cause of traffic congestion. Despite having full-loaded fast-moving motors, many people are running late for work. People who live far from their workplace may find it tiresome to travel all the way to work. In such instances, public transport will be a better option. As we all know, fossil fuel is not a renewable resource so conservation of that also needed. Also, fuel prices have become a hindrance to many users. So rather than using a car, they can opt for the cheaper and convenient mode. It can be a potential possibility for leading to a decline in car users.

I believe that the potentially damaging effects of car usage will cause the number of cars to decline. For long-term sustainability, it is the responsibility of people to make the world more sustainable and look for alternatives.
