Reflection Essay: Sweet Dreams, Ladybug!

Mission Statement: This adventurous children’s book about the journey of ladybugs aims to give good bonding time before sleeping between parents or guardians and children alike. The author aspires this book to be adapted into a mini-series on television for children to be amused, entertained, delighted, inspired, and enlightened by its visual interpretation. Similar to other children’s series, this is very uplifting and full of values to learn.

Despite the light story, many kids will find that they will return to this book again and again only to get lost in the lovely drawings, full of vivid colors and the wonders of nature in depth.

Logline:

Sweet Dreams, Ladybug! is a delightful journey of ladybugs in the grounds of flowers with beautiful and lovely creatures. This is an appropriate little book intended for kids that is composed with a poet’s heart and soul and decorated with exquisite illustration that helps inspire the mind and delight it.

Treatment:

During summer break from school, in the tropical garden of Hawaii filled with different kinds of flowers and trees and plants, a family of ladybugs residing known as the Beetles. The youngest daughter, Scarlet, wants to meet the Granny Beetles. Timely, they got a message from their helpful messenger birds about the dying grannies of Scarlet. It gives them the final decision. As they journey towards their destination, they are about to meet new acquaintances who will help them arrive at their destination.

The sun is glaring as striking yellow lying on the attractive blue sky. Yet a peculiar rainbow appeared along the way. The dancing swans were so attractive very flexible in their dancing. The dancing swans are trying to distract them from pursuing their destination.

The twirling and gliding move so smooth & pleasant to the eyes. The Beetles were somehow lost to their focus and just downright glaring to the dancing swans. They seem to be hypnotized by the delightful dance of the swans.

The Beetles are strong-willed to reach their destination as they successfully escape from the hypnotizing dancing doves. A weird beeping noise made them stop from crawling from moving forward. Father ladybug is trying to protect his family from dangers, but a kid dragonfly follows the family amid the hot season.

The kid dragonfly was amused by making fun of the family when trying to catch their attention. Scarlet then called the attention of the kid dragonfly and made friends.

The Beetles are also delighted by the new friendship formed. Then, the children dragonflies invited scarlet to play hide and seek. Mr. and Mrs. Beetles were affirmative and let Scarlet join the game. They were giving them time to break from an exhausting trip. Scarlet has so much good time around her new friends. But mama ladybug reminded her about their time travel to the grannies because they can’t be caught by night. Scarlet politely asks her new friends to leave, and everything goes well.

Scarlet is so perky walking alongside her mama and papa. She even gets more energy after the short game. The family is more determined to travel more. The sun is even higher as it moves upward, just like the clock’s tick as it hits noon.

On the crossroad, the beetles are confused and amazed by the tall bright colors of flowers where the father beetle suddenly forgets which of the streetways is the right path to the Granny Beetles.

Suddenly, their surroundings darken because of the covered wide feather of a peacock. The extravagant Asian bird with iridescent blue necks and bright green tail feathers dotted with eyespots wants to be friends with the Beetles family. The similarities of their striking and bright colors behind their back made them easier to talk to each other. Scarlet, on the other hand, stares at the beautiful bird.

The peacock was watching them over and bothered him that they suddenly stopped, not knowing which pathway to continue moving forward. He immediately offers them help knowing that he has the advantage of seeing the birds-eye view and knowing which road continues to the next street. Once again, he spreads out one of the most beautiful feathers in the forest, naturally complements colorful butterflies around him. The peacock was humbled to help the family.

Crawling forward, the family is constantly reminded that along the way. There will be unexpected helping hands that are good enough to strengthen their journey. As this new set of friends, they can’t help but be thirsty. These creatures have long thin tongues that pump their food up to the heads, around their skulls and eyes—the hummingbirds. The reddish cute sipping birds invited the family to drink for a drink of their sipped waters from the juicy spins from the flowers.

The beetles enjoy the drinking time. Scarlet meets a baby hummingbird and spans her attention to it. She shares the drink with it. The old hummingbird shares with the family that traveling is also their thing. They keep on migrating from one place to another to survive.

As soon as they hear the story about the hummingbirds, the beetles give them more strength to continue further. The Beetles enthusiastically jump off and glide the upside-down rainbows in the sky—music to their ears and lovely forest views as it starts to gloom in the afternoon. Glitters of the butterfly wings make them move so relaxed and soothing. Flying forward with splendid soft wings among the glittering pearls, the butterflies are like guiding light towards their way.

The sun is about to set. The sunrays need rest, just like baby Scarlet who has been traveling the entire day. Mama Beetle now tries to lullaby baby Scarlet while crawling along the side.

But Mama and Papa Beetle are now worried that the night is fast approaching, but they still have not arrived. Luckily, songbirds have come. They have been the best friends of mama and papa beetle ever since childhood years. Songbirds once again save the day by giving them the light towards the last street. Also, helping them lullaby baby Scarlet. The darkness of the night and its calmness compliments the bright shining stars.

FINALLY, they have arrived. The Beetles family safely reach their destination. The relatives and kins gladly welcome them. Scarlet then wakes up and is happy to witness this sort of reunion. Most importantly, she hugs her grandmother and grandfather. THE END.
