My daughters have always desired and loved listening to fairy tales, and as a father, I never minded telling them. When I would lay them in bed they never once fell asleep without me telling them a beautiful story. My daughter Angelina especially loved the stories I would tell. She had a stunning imagination when it came to storytime. There was no doubt in my mind that she was going to be an astounding storyteller when she got older. I saw so much potential in her future that I pushed her to write down her own stories starting at a very young age which influenced her to become the distinguished storyteller she is today.

“Imagination is the ability to form mental images, phonological passages, analogies, or narratives of something that is not perceived through our senses. Imagination is a manifestation of our memory and enables us to scrutinize our past and construct hypothetical future scenarios that do not yet but could exist.” This is the definition that comes up when you want to know what having an imagination is; but what I believe having an imagination truly is, is the act to form beautiful images that can not be perceived in reality and be able to create a ravishing reality. I tried to raise Angelina to have the greatest images that she could have. I created an environment that would bring out the best in my daughters. I desired to expand their minds in any way I could.

Writing is a gift that everyone should have. I believe that I raised my daughters to be great writers cause of their imagination. Angelina will forever remember the stories I told her when she was younger and I hope she will always be influenced by these stories in an amazing way.

As a father, it was hard seeing my daughter struggle to make friends because we moved around so much. I saw my daughter struggle to make friends and to keep hope that they would be able to have a childhood. I’m sure I was overthinking when it came to how they viewed their childhood because they seemed to be very happy. It’s hard to say what truly brought joy to my daughters' lives but I know for certain that the stories they had in their minds brought some kind of joy.

“Angeliná it’s time for bed.” Was something that I said every single night knowing good and well that she wouldn’t go to bed without a story. There’s a lot to say when it comes to how I impacted her life with my words. I knew as a father I had great influence but as a teacher, she desired to hear my thoughts. There is never a time where her eyes went dim when I was telling a story, there was never a time when she seem to be uninterested in what I was saying. I always wondered if it was because she was just being nice and she didn’t want to hurt my feelings as a daughter but soon I realized that she was soaking in everything I was saying so one day she could tell stories to her children.

Sometimes I worried that my daughters would rely on made-up fairytales to make them happy. I sometimes wondered if the real reason they didn’t mind moving around so much is that they created a different world in their head. It’s not that I would be mad about this but sometimes it made me afraid. If they created fantasies in their minds about how life could be then I was afraid that life would just disappoint them in the future because one day they would have to stop living in the world that they created in soon go into the world that was real.

“Imagination is quite possibly a uniquely human ability. In essence, it allows us to explore ideas of things that are not in our present environment, or perhaps not even real. For example, one can imagine the cup of coffee seen the day before, or one can imagine an alien spaceship arriving in the earth's orbit”(Davis, P. 1).  In perception, one takes information from the outside world, such as light, or sound waves, and finds meaning in it, using memory. This is what makes having an imagination beautiful.

It is where creativity, ingenuity, and thinking outside the box begin for child development. Imaginative and creative play is how children learn about the world. ... Imagining, trying new ways of doing things, and experimenting help develop critical thinking in children and foster creative problem-solving. I say this all because I want people to understand how important it is to build a child’s imagination when they are young. My daughter Angeliná was influenced by the mystifying stories that told her when she was a kid and it made her an astonishing storyteller. I never imagined as a father how Influenced my daughters were until I saw the light in their eyes when I would mention fairy’s, talking animals, trees, and flowers and have gold specks flickers off of them. I will forever imagine my daughter dancing with dolphins and running through the magical forests. And I hope that they will forever imagine a world better than this even if it’s for a couple of moments throughout their day. That is what I desire most, is to see my daughters believe in something more than this and desire a better world. Through their imagination, I believe that anything is possible.
