Reflective Essay: Family Is More Than Blood Relations

Family is not contained to blood nor limited by the people that share a last name. My family simply comes in the form of my friends. I was lucky enough to be able to find people who love me so much that they are willing to be there for me when no one else is. As a child I was always told how family was forever and friends would merely come and go. However, I beg to differ, yes some friends can come and go as that is simply what was supposed to happen in the moment. Even friendships can be like breakups, in the sense that they were just not meant to be. Although all it takes is some searching, as you go through the stages of life you will meet various people. Hopefully through that searching you will be lucky enough to find yourself some friends. I have never considered myself an especially lucky person, in fact I am extremely unlucky. Despite that, the one thing in my life which I can say with solid confidence is out of the billions of people in the world I am truly lucky to have met my current friends that stand by my side. If you are lucky enough you will meet your people, the people that will be your rock and shape you into your best self, that's when you know you have made it in life. You just need to find those that after an argument will show up with a basket of cookies and a card at your doorstep to apologize. Find those people that after finding out your stuck home because your dad has covid will all come and deliver a basket of food and gifts to help your boredom. For your birthday they will make you a book of your lives together containing unforgettable memories. They will never forget to tell you they love you or give you a hug. Those people that will never fail to make you laugh or call you to make sure you're doing okay. Once you find those people, never let them go as they are your irreplaceable friends. Those said people are my friends and have enriched my life to no end. A home I can always go back to, these people are my sanctuary.

 Friendship is a miracle in itself as it propels you into the finding of another who will share those burdens and harsh times.
