“I'm old school dad, an eye for an eye.” Veronica Mars. Bold, sarcastic, witty, nosy, and most of all, curious. Veronica Mars was a T.V show, starring Kristen Bell, that ran from 2004-to 2007. It revolves around Veronica who is a misfit high school girl in Neptune, California. In the first season, it follows Veronica as she tries to figure out the murder of her best friend (also the one that drove her dad out of being sheriff). The T.V character that is similar to me is Veronica Mars because she is tough, curious, and flawed.

To begin with, I am similar to Veronica Mars because she is tough. Veronica is tough as a stone. For instance, I learned to grow up fast when I was a kid.  While everyone was learning their multiples I was figuring out where I was going to go to college, how to buy a house, what a 501(k) is, the psychology of being manipulative, and so on.  I was criticized for “knowing too much” and “not being a kid”.  At first, it hurt but then I learned that all these other kids wouldn't be as prepared as I was. I grew a shell and learned to not care. So, while it might seem like I’m made of metal, I’m not. In short, this experience shows that from a young age I learned to grow a shell and become tough. An example from the show is that throughout the first season, Veronica is hated by her old friends, teachers, parents, practically everyone in Neptune. However, she doesn’t let them get to her, she gets revenge, makes comebacks, or just ignores them. To restate, I show similarities to Veronica by being tough.

Additionally, I share being curious with Veronica Mars. To take a case in point, I once listened to an unsolved murder mystery podcast and I got so invested in it that I started my own “investigation”. I gathered all of the released evidence, watched others' opinions, and did more research. This went on for around a month before I decided on who I think did it. To summarize, this shows my curiosity about things. In Veronica Mars's example, she becomes unconvinced of the convicted killer that she takes the investigation into her own hands and ultimately solves the murder on her own. Similarly, her dad is a Private Investigator and she follows and helps with many of his investigations. These examples have shown how Veronica and I possess curiosity.

Lastly, I am similar to Veronica because we are both flawed. I, as most humans are, flawed. One I’m flawed is that I have trust issues. For instance, when it comes to making new friends I am a clam. My mother likes to use this analogy to describe me a lot. In short, this means that I tend to keep things-emotions, thoughts, feelings- crammed inside me. So when making friends or just in general, I tend to push people that care about me away. A good example of Veronica being flawed is that she also pushes everyone that loves her away. The murder of Lilly Kane broke Veronica and her family with it. When Veronica’s dad accused the wrong man, Lily’s dad, and Veronica’s mum’s ex-high school sweetheart, Veronica’s mom ran away and her parents later got divorced. To add more stress, Lily’s murder ends up being her boyfriend's dad, also Veronica’s ex’s dad. On top of all of this, Veronica is still a high school student trying to finish her last years.

Because of all of the points stated above, the T.V character I am most similar to is Veronica Mars. This is true because we are both tough, curious, and flawed. What kind of person would you be if you found out your best friend was murdered by your ex-boyfriend's dad? As Veronica always says, “Here’s what you do, you get tough. You get even."
