Research Paper about COVID-19 Mandate

Abstract

This paper describes some of the positive and negative effects of the Covid-19 mandate. 

Those effects include people losing their careers and being restricted from traveling to see family and friends. The mandate would be comprehended better if people actually did their research on the vaccine to understand the facts. This paper also provides examples of the positive and negative effects of the vaccine, as well as some facts found from researching about the vaccine. The numerous reasons why and how this mandate will affect the world will be described in this paper.

COVID-19 MANDATE

Since Covid-19 grasped the world by the neck, obtaining the vaccine has become the new world phenomenon. Insanity is in the mist of the United States Department of Defense. The Clock is ticking with people’s lives and careers at stake. So far, the world is trying to fight this disease by influencing people to get the vaccine. This mandate is a tough pill to swallow for those who serve in the Military or fall under the Department of Defense as a civilian. Because they don’t have many options, they should realize how this effects their families as well as themselves. 

Many have been in situations to where they’re at a disadvantage for not having the vaccine. The risks and sacrifices people take by not receiving the vaccine goes further than people think. Countless hours of research have been done to reassure everyone. Covid-19 Vaccines have undergone approval from the Food and Drug Administration. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention better known as the CDC also provides information in regard to vaccination cards, testing for Covid-19, also risk levels and data for your country. 

Loss of Careers

What is the difference between the United States Department of Defense unvaccinated and the United States Department of Defense vaccinated? Well, ever since Covid-19 surfaced as an immediate threat to the nation’s forces, the world came to a halt with jobs and careers on the line. Mandatory vaccinations began to rise with the reassurance that the nation will withstand this disease. Those who wear the military uniforms who refuse to get vaccinated can and will result into an administrative or punitive action. “Continued failure to comply could result in administrative or non-judicial punishment to include relief of duties or discharge.” (Brig. Gen. Johnston, 2021). According to Brigade General Johnston, this does not exclude DOD civilians. Meaning careers will be at a loss in the midst of the new mandate unravelling. 

Furthermore, deadlines are being made in order to keep things in check for US Military and DOD civilians to be fully vaccinated by November 22, 2021 (Hicks, 2021). Now this is an eyebrow raiser, what does this mean for those who refuse to not get the vaccination? This would result in termination of that position, meaning people will be fired. In summary, not getting the vaccine could make someone lose their career. Getting the vaccine will push a positive impact in order to bring the DOD back to its full potential. It’ll be such a relief within the workplace and will shine a light on the prevention of civilians and service members to not be sick. Not to mention, people are making a healthier work environment for those who stand to their left and right by getting vaccinated and being able to utilize maximum manpower. “This is quite literally a matter of life and death for our Soldiers, their families and the communities in which we live,” (Lt. Gen Dingle, 2021). So, in the event that people don’t get vaccinated, it will result in the loss of careers or intense restrictions. 

Travel and Family Restrictions 

Equally important as the misfortune of losing careers, the travel restrictions and not being able to see family are a significant issue. Without the vaccination mandate we could be looking at a never-ending cycle of spreading this disease through air travel and to loved ones. According to the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases (NCIRD), Covid-19 is being spread just by “Breathing in air when close to an infected person who is exhaling small droplets and particles that contain the virus. Having these small droplets and particles that contain virus land on the eyes, nose, or mouth, especially through splashes and sprays like a cough or sneeze. Touching eyes, nose, or mouth with hands that have the virus on them.” (NCIRD, 2021). 

With being a part of the DOD, taking vacation(leave) days have become a bit sticky. Travel to the U.S. and many other countries are restricted without a negative Covid-19 test, taken inside three schedule days (72 hours) of flight, or evidence of recuperation from the infection inside the most recent 90 days. These limitations cause aircrafts to go through additional methodology while approaching affirming the negative test outcome or the confirmation of ongoing recuperation for all travelers preceding boarding. In all actuality that aircrafts should prevent boarding from getting travelers who don't give documentation of a negative test or recuperation; thus, some people won’t be able to fly. Overall, with the Covid-19 disease being around, it has been an inconvenience for nearly everyone when it comes to traveling and being able to see family. 

On the condition of not having the vaccination, it can affect those younger and older family members who have weaker immune systems. For example, if a service member goes on leave to visit their family but has been around infected people prior to arriving then they could possibly spread the disease more. Infants, as well as senior citizens don’t have such strong immune systems to battle the disease in comparison with a teenager or young adult. This means when someone travels home, they must take extra precautions and distance themselves to prevent the spread. Why chance the possibility of passing on this deadly disease? Therefore, getting vaccinated will be one of the best ways to prevent this. 

Importance of Research

Above all, the extensive research that has accumulated to countless hours spent on pushing out vaccinations for Covid-19 has a major effect in this Covid-19 mandate. For decades scientists have been working assiduously to create vaccinations to fight diseases that have potential to wipe out the population. The quick response for finding a vaccination scares the country; many doubt that it is safe because it is so soon. Which leaves them with questions such as: how could they find a vaccine to a deadly disease in less than five years? Why are there three different types of vaccines? Which vaccine will be most effective towards the disease? All of these questions could be answered if people took the time to actually do their research. Nonetheless, if people look at the numbers it will reassure their curious minds. 

Lastly, in the month of August, 66% of the vaccine has been effective towards Covid-19 and the Delta variant (Tenforde, 2021). From 1958 to 1977, the World Health Association led a worldwide inoculation crusade that annihilated smallpox. Vaccines usually take ten or fifth teen years to make. With understanding the seriousness of the spread, the Vaccine Research Center has already dealt with a similar disease called SARS-CoV-2. This disease creates Covid-19, The Vaccine Research Center utilized the time frame from being notified by China publicly in January of 2020. By March 16, 2020, clinical trials began with a vaccine, known as the Janssen vaccine, which was approved by the FDA on February 27, 2021. Research is so important when it comes to things that’ll affect someone’s body forever.

Final Recommendations 

In conclusion, this Covid-19 mandate effects the world in numerous ways. With both positive and negative effects at hand, everyone must do their research to see what the better option for them is. Some of the main effects include the loss of careers for people who are not vaccinated and the restriction of travel for those who don’t have a negative covid test or proof of recovery. Although people are hesitant about taking brand-new vaccines, this Covid-19 mandate will be the best way for the world pandemic to get one step closer to going back to normal.
