Numerology is the bridge between who you are now and whom you have the potential to be.

Numerology is the belief in the mystical relationship between one or more correlating events. The idea of this has been around for thousands of years. It was first brought to attention by an ancient Ionian Greek philosopher, Pythagoras, who discovered the relationship between numbers and musical notes. He used people’s dates of birth and the vibrations of each musical note to give accurate descriptions of the individual. There are four primary types which are Chaldean, Kabbalah, Cheiro, and the most commonly known Western/Pythagorean Numerology, however, there are many different aspects to each one.

In Chaldean Numerology, the universe is believed to be built by vibrations. It also idolizes that everything is because of strictly, unavoidable destiny. It originated from Ancient Babylonia in around the 10th century B.C.

Chaldean Numerology uses the Pythagorean Number System. The Pythagorean Number was created by Pythagoras, who assigned each number a specific number of letters. This can be seen in Image 1. It is similar to what is known as soul number in Western Numerology. Both of these are found the same way. However, while using the Chaldean method, a person would add all the digits of one’s birthday. But the soul number is found by adding all the vowels of a name.

Kabbalah numerology is different from the other types as it focuses more on names than numbers. The letters are derived from the Hebrew alphabet to predict a being’s destiny. When translated to English, it uses the same chart that assigns each letter a number. It adds all the letters of the middle name together into one single-digit number. Each number’s meaning varies just as each person’s future does.

One aspect of Western Numerology is Life Path Numbers. These numbers will use the digits of a birthday into a one-digit number to reveal the greater purpose of one’s life. For example, December 30, 2008, would be 12/30/2008. One would add 1+2+3+2+8. After you get a two-digit number, the digits would be added to 7. Therefore the life path number would be 7. “It provides you with what your optimal expression is and also what your tendencies and obstacles will be,” says numerologist Felicia Bender. There are nine numbers since they are the only one-digit numbers. Each digit has its distinct meaning that represents how everyone is different. Life Path Numbers also reveals one's qualities, strengths, and weaknesses. They can influence how one view themselves and their lives. Soul Numbers represent what a person wants most in the world and what a soul deeply craves in life. It mirrors a person’s inner thoughts, habits, and conventional reactions. It's calculated using the Pythagorean Number System, which assigns each letter a number. One must add all the vowels of the name to find it. It can also be connected to Astrology since it is most similar to the Moon sign, inner motivations. They differ from Life Path numbers which strongly correlate with one’s Sun sign, a person’s true self. There are rules to luck like some things can be mere coincidence but, one can still differentiate whether it might be a secret message from the universe. Angel Numbers are when one may see a specific one-digit number together multiple times. These have hidden meanings telling of one’s future. “Seeing a repeating number is like your angel pointing to you and making you feel seen and heard. They are trying to get your attention, and the numbers they send have meanings. Think of it like a little marker saying that you are on the right direction in life, like a highway sign.”. Angel Number signifies a cosmic push to remind one that they are on the right track.

There are also three new possible outcomes known as Master Numbers, 11, 22, and 33. These numbers come with their powerful positives and negatives as others do. Eleven’s are sensitive creatures that tend to internalize problems whether they may be or may not be their responsibility. Twenty-two is known as the vision and action combined as it is the most powerful of all the Master Numbers. It is also known as Master Builder since it can turn ambitious dreams into a reality. And lastly, Thirty-three offers guidance to the world since it is the most influential, also known as the Master Teacher. Thirty-threes tend to lack all personal ambition and instead concentrate on uplifting society. Together they make a bond of the most powerful numbers hence their name, Master Numbers. Master numbers create the Triangle of Enlightenment as they are the most powerful Eleven represents the vision as it is the most intuitive of all the numbers representing illumination. The Triangle of Enlightenment represents manifestation, revelation, and a higher frame of reference.

The final type of Numerology is known as Cheiro numerology. It is known to be less accurate because it often pays attention to insignificant details, including adding aimless numbers to identifying superstitious number values. It is also least reliant on mathematics rather than philosophy and personal beliefs. Unlike its siblings, Cheiro is created by a palmist named William John Warner, who adopted this to make predictions of the future in the 19th century and late 20th century.

To conclude, Numerology has many different aspects that may be difficult to understand. While it may seem like nonsense, it connects math to one's life. Math, the study of numbers and formulas, may seem useless to some, but it can be related to every aspect of life. After all, "Life is a math equation, to gain the most, you have to know how to convert negatives into positives.”
