Borderline disorder is a mental health disorder that impacts the way you think and feels about yourself and others. A borderline personality disorder is mainly treated using psychotherapy, but medication can also help. One type of psychotherapy is cognitive-behavioral therapy. “Psychotherapy alters conscious thoughts and observable behaviors while also making a person more aware of them”(Pugle). This quote shows that cognitive therapy helps rewrite the brain and later behaviors that could help combat their impulsiveness and other symptoms. Another therapy that helps us is dialectical behavior therapy. It is a form of CBt that aims to help maladaptive behaviors with healthier coping skills. The DBT skill training includes: core mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, emotional regulation, and disturbs tolerance. DBT has been effective at reducing self-harm behaviors and suicide attempts. One study found that at the end of the treatment year, 77% of patients no longer met the criteria for BPD diagnosis. Another way that can help treat borderline personality disorder is medications. Medications just lie antidepressants, anxiolytics, antipsychotics, and mood stabilizers. None of these medications were improved by the FDA, but for the treatment of BPD, the drugs have been effective in treatment. 

You cannot help people with borderline personality disorder, for the reason that they don’t want help or treatment. People with a borderline personality disorder- quit treatment programs 70 percent of the time. “People with the most studies of the disorder, BPD, provide many challenges to practitioners. They frequently seek out help, but they also tend to drop out of therapy. They cocaine be quick to open up to a therapist, and perhaps even quicker at shutting down” (Dingfelder). This quote shows that they don’t want the help or they decide to get help but then switch moods and decide they don’t want help. If they don’t get the therapy or medication then they will never be able to get treated and their disorder will get worse every day. 

A borderline personality disorder is a problem that the United States or individuals should fix, so people who have the disorder can get better. There are many treatments to help with the disorders but the individual with the disorder doesn’t want helo. But if every person with BPD got the help they need it could help their problem and relieve the symptoms they have and live a good life without the symptoms of the disorder.
