With the Internet, we can send messages using email technology and IM or instant messengers. Before the Internet was invented, we had to physically move to a letterbox to send our messages.

Before the Internet was available, the only ways to gain knowledge and find information were to read print materials such as books, magazines, or newspapers, watch videos, and listen to seminars or lectures. Today, a person can just visit websites to get the information they need quickly and easily. A search engine can also be used to look for the most useful websites. This indeed can save a lot of time.

The Internet makes it easy for people from different parts of the world to interact with one another. For example, a person who is in Hong Kong can now play computer games and chat with someone in Australia. People can also meet one another on websites known as social networking sites without really having to see one another personally.

The Internet, together with computers, has made many work tasks much easier. With a computer, we can type and easily correct messages, reports and any other kind of documents. With the Internet, we can send messages to anyone in the world easily and cheaply. It is also possible to send the message to more than one person at the same time. A person can use the computer to design an image and upload it to a website for the world to see. Photos and movie clips can also be shared on certain websites.

To live without computers or the Internet would be like being sent back into the dark ages. For many people in society today, it would be simply unthinkable. The Internet and computers are now such an important part of our lives, that we simply could not do without them.
