“Yet I should kill thee with much cherishing. Good night, good night. Parting is such sweet sorrow That I shall say “Good night” till it be morrow”(Shakespeare II.iii.199-200).in William Shakespeare's poem the tragedy of Romeo in Juliet, he portrays the utmost human emotions people experience when parting from their loved ones. William Shakespeare's characters experience sorrow, anguish, and pain, as well as loss of happiness as well as their well-being. Many of the characters like the main characters Romeo and Juliet part from one another which causes them to experience sorrow, pain, and anguish. In this novel, William Shakespeare demonstrates throughout the novel that Romeo's tragic flaw is his impulsiveness throughout his unthoughtful decisions and actions it is demonstrated by him marrying a woman he met in a day along with giving everything up for her, also when he kills Tybalt, and then he commits suicide. Romeo's tragic flaw is his impulsiveness. It is illustrated through Romeo marrying a woman he met in a day as well as giving everything up to her, in this scene Romeo is talking to Friar Lawrence to marry him to Juliet the woman he rarely even knows“Then plainly know my heart’s dear love is set On the fair daughter of rich Capulet. As mine on hers, so hers is set on mine, And all combined, save what thou must combine By holy marriage. When and where and how We met, we wooed, and made the exchange of vow I’ll tell thee as we pass, but this I pray, That thou consent to marry us today.”(Shakespeare II.iii.61-68). Shakespeare as well demonstrates Romeo's impulsiveness from this scene when he says he will give up his family name and everything for Juliet due to their families being enemies and Romeo and Juliet being forbidden to love one another as a result of them being on the opposing side. “By a name I know not how to tell thee who I am. My name, dear saint, is hateful to myself Because it is an enemy to thee. Had I written it, I would tear the word”(Shakespeare II.ii.73). In conclusion, Romeo is reckless and impulsive in making decisions because not only will he give up his family's name for a woman he just met but lie as well as love an enemy which will end up reflecting on his life in a negative way as well as the people that surround him. Romeo's tragic flaw of impulsiveness is illustrated through him killing Tybalt without thinking what his actions would lead up to which is revealed in the following scene that Benvolio tells Romeo to run away before the prince finds him and puts him to death for killing Tybalt “Romeo, away, begone! The citizens are up, and Tybalt slain. Stand not amazed. The Prince will doom thee death If thou art taken. Hence, be gone, away”(Shakespeare III.i.140). In spite of Romeo's impulsive actions, it led up to him getting banished. In this scene, Friar Lawrence tells Romeo about his banishment because of his impulsiveness including his reckless actions that occurred “A gentler judgment vanished from his lips: Not body’s death, but body’s banishment.” As a result of Romeo's impulsiveness, it led to him taking a person's life as well as being banished forever from Verona which not only did it cause difficulties in his life let alone others. Romeo's tragic flaw of impulsiveness is illustrated through his committing suicide. As it is demonstrated in this following scene Romeo sees that Juliet is laying dead on the tomb, and he drinks the poison, as well as he kills himself not knowing that Juliet is not dead instead she is sleeping “Come, bitter conduct, come, unsavory guide! Thou desperate pilot, now at once run on The dashing rocks thy seasick weary bark! Here’s to my love. Drinking. O true apothecary, Thy drugs are quick. Thus with a kiss I die”(Shakespeare V.iii.227.)as a result of Romeo taking the poison Juliet wakes up to find her lover Romeo dead beside her on the tomb which upset Juliet and leads her to commit suicide which is demonstrated in the following scene “Yea, noise? Then I’ll be brief. O, happy dagger, This is thy sheath. There rust, and let me die”(Shakespeare V.iii.231). As a result of this, it shows how impulsive Romeo is because of his unthoughtful decisions that had impacted Juliet and therefore leading her to dagger herself which then leads her to sadly pass away. All in all, Shakespeare demonstrates through Romeo that impulsiveness can lead to an unpleasant, troublesome, and woeful path, and this flaw in Romeo and Juliet leads to both of their deaths. Shakespeare expresses that Romeo is impulsive when he makes decisions without considering it which leads to him to make a lot of mistakes like when he falls in love with Juliet in a day and gives everything up for her, and when he kills Tybalt and commits suicide which eventually leads up to Juliet's death. Romeo's unthoughtful and inconsiderate decisions and actions are like an infant making a decision, and he does not consider what his actions might do as well as how they will affect others. As soon as Romeo finds out that Juliet was not waking up he takes poison which kills him and it also leads up to Juliet Committing suicide by stabbing herself due to the poor choices that Romeo has made. Romeo's impulsive flaw leads up to his own downfall as well as Juliet's. Through the unthoughtful decisions that Romeo has made occur throughout the play, Shakespeare has illustrated how impulsiveness can lead up to poor choices in life and cause you to end up on a bad path, and also that being around impulsive people can also cause you to make poor unthoughtful decisions and end up in an unpleasant path in life that will lead up to a world full of regret and sorrow.
