Should our school participate in Shut Down Your Screen Week

Should we let google take our money and let google mess with our brains? Google gives us ads so they can take money from people and mess with our brains. And Google gives us the answer instead of us looking for them.  Somerset Middle School should participate in shutting down your screen week because search engines, such as Google, are using students to make money  and it can make people not pay attention to our surroundings.

Search engines, such as Google, are using students to make money by giving students ads that companies are paying google for. According to the text ”Is Google Making Us Stupid?” by Nicholas, it states  “Google doesn’t want us to slow down. The faster we zip through words and pictures, the more ads google is able to show us and makes more money.” This shows that companies are paying google to show that company's product so they can tell people about the product. In the article “Attached to technology and paying a price” by Matt Richtel it states “ He Forgets things like dinner plans, and he has trouble focusing on his Family. This is your brain on computers.” This explains that the brain wants what is in front of us and forgets things. This means that companies are paying google to show that company's product so they can tell people about the product. The internet is dangerous. Google wants people's money and our brains want what it wants. 

Some will say that “ Search engines, such as Google, are using students to make money  and it can make people not pay attention to our surroundings.” is not ture because google helps us study and helps us with community with people from far away. However, that point is not important because we can get distracted by ads or go on things that they are not supposed to go on. According to the text “ Attached to technology and paying a price” by Matt Richtel; Adam Gazzaley, a neuroscientist at the university of California, San Francisco says “ We are exposing our brains to an environment and asking them to do things we weren’t necessarily evolved to do, We know already there are consequences.” This is saying we get distracted easily and how we hurt our brains. This is just saying google gives us the answer and our brains and sometimes they are treated the way they are not developed to do. Also the brain is developed to do so much but yet we try to do more then what the brain is able to do. So our school should  participate in Shut Down Your Screen Week because it will give our brains a rest and we can learn better.
