Sir Gawain and the Green Knight Essay Sample

Sir Gawain sets off to meet the Green Knight wearing the sash around his neck. He arrives at a wild, rugged place, where he sees no chapel but hears the sound of a blade sharpening in the distance. He starts to walk closer thinking it is the green knight. Sir Gawain shouts out ‘’Green Knight!’’ He then sees what appears to be a Green Knight with a huge axe. The Green Knight then greets Sir Gawain who takes a bow. The Green Knight gets his ax ready Sir Gawain flinches and the Green Knight taunts Sir Gawain about how scared he is.

Sir Gawain gets ready as the Green Knight is about to strike him in the neck with an axe. The Green Knights says ,’’ bye-bye Gawain’’ as he hits him with the axe.’’Am I alive?’’ said Sir Gawain.,’’ Yes’’ said the Green Knight.,’’I can’t believe the sash actually worked.’’ said Sir Gawain in his head.’’So why did you decide to were the green sash Sir Gawain.’’I found it and just brought it for good luck.’’ Don’t play games Sir Gawain I know where you got it from.’’ ‘’You do?’’ ‘’Yes you got it from my wife from the castle you were staying at isn’t that right Sir Gawain’’ ‘’Yes that is right.’’ ‘’So you should be punished by death by disobeying the chivalric code and by lying to me prepare to die you lying uselessness of a knight.’’ ‘’If you want to kill me you will have to fight for it.’’

The Green Knight starts to hit at him with his axe while Sir Gawain was dodging.’’ I lied for a good reason I know It was wrong and against the code but please spare my life.’’ Said Sir Gawain.’’ I'm sorry, but I cannot do that you lied and every lie should be punished.’’ As the Green knight starts hitting at Sir Gawain's armor it starts to break down and get weaker with every blow Gawain is receiving.’’ Your weak Gawain just accept defeat and die you deserve this.’’ ‘’ I won't I will keep on fighting to stay alive.’’ ‘’ Well your time is running out your armor is weak and you getting tired you should just die and have an honorable death.’’

The green knight starts to chip at Sir Gawain's armor every time becoming, even more, weaker than before. Finally, Gawain is able to land a good blow on the Green knight's head he stabs him right in the eye. ‘’You got lucky Sir Gawain but you going to have to do more than that to kill me.’’ Furious Gawain launches towards the Green Knight he stabs him well that's what he thought. ‘’ I got you  Green Knight I cut your hand off.’’ ‘’ You really think so Sir Gawain maybe you should check your hand.’’ Sir Gawain looks at his hand it's gone.He looked at it with shock he didn’t realize it was gone because of an adrenaline rush. ‘’Just give up your dominant hand is gone your useless now.

The Green Knight grabs Sir Gawain's sword he kicks Gawain to the ground.’’Your done Sir Gawain don’t worry I’ll tell everyone you're gone your wife Arthur before they're dead too.’’ ‘’I'm not going to give up you're going to d……..’’ ‘’Your gone know Gawain I have your head right here in my hand.’’ Sir Gawain gets his head chopped off by the Green Knight his body lying in his own pool of blood. Nobody ever found his body maybe it’s because the Green knights have it. After his death, Arthur and everybody had a funeral for him. There at the funeral, the Green Knight attends where he was ready to ask more people to play his game.
