Hello everyone! Time is just a mystery. We divide time into past, present and future. The present is an effect of the past and what we do now, could change the future. Let me give you an example of it, using a little bit of history.

Usually, people think that history is something boring, but the reality is that is just a series of events that had an impact on what we are now. In the past people think that the Earth was flat an at the end of the line we have an abysm, but then an adventurous man, name Christopher Columbus decide to find another route to India. By mistake, he found new land and with this discovery, the world changed and the theory about the shape of the Earth too. It opened a new world for humanity. So, in fact, that event from the past changed what we know now and, it just gives us the intrigue about what we could find far away from the Earth that we know. That is why now we have people exploring Mars. Yes, I will continue believing that past has an impact in the present and portray the future. In the article “Why is Important and How Can It Benefit Your Future” from the website University of People, the author says, and I quote “History is the knowledge of and the study of the past. It is the story of the past and a form of collective memory. History is the story of who we are, where we come from, and can potentially reveal where we are headed. History is important to study because it is essential for all of us in understanding ourselves and the world around us. There is a history of every field and topic, from medicine, to music, to art. To know and understand history is absolutely necessary, even though the results of historical study are not as visible, and less immediate.”

Let me give you another example, just think about wars. Wars in our history let us with a lot of suffering, but we learn from them and that is way we try to live in harmony with the rest of the world. Just because if you don’t know your past, you are in risk to commit the same mistakes that in the past. I quote the author of the article, “Studying history allows us to observe and understand how people and societies behaved. For example, we are able to evaluate war, even when a nation is at peace, by looking back at previous events. History provides us with the data that is used to create laws, or theories about various aspects of society.”

Another example on how past impacts present and future is like when you decided to pull a prank on your friend or brother. In some time, this event will be part of the past. Then in the present the other person does not trust on you and probably he or she won’t do it never. The author Roshan Bhondekar wrote the article Why Past is More Important Than ‘Present’ and he says this and I quote “We all have a past but we do not live in it, our past is past. But it continues to affect us at all times. We do not live in the past, nor do we live in the future, but the present is the most fleeting of all. However the present is just as important as the past or the future, for without it the past was for nothing, and the future will never arrive. Our present will someday soon be our past, and the present will decide how the future will turn out.”

I just want to conclude saying that Past, Present and Future are important. They are intertwined. You cannot live without one another. Past just help us to understand and learn so we can do it better now and do it even better in the future. Glen Dodson on his article ‘history can help us understand present, predict future states “looking back to the past to what is called history, we can better understand the present and predict the future. With history we can track our origins and compare past patterns with present and future patterns. Modern technology teaches us new ways to do things. Looking back into history tells us why we do these things.” So just learn from the past so you can have a good present and a better future.
