Steve Irwin as we all know, is an internationally famous explorer, zookeeper and wild life expert. He was born in Upper Ferntree Gully in 1962. By the age of just 9 he was already catching small crocodiles that were interfering by the boat ramps.  He would jump onto them and wrestle them, while pushing them into his dingy. Because of these courageous acts the towns people said he had a ‘sixth sense’ when it came to wild life. Once he moved to Queensland in 1970 he attended Lands borough state school, then moved to Caloundra state high for his later schooling years.  In July of 1998 Steve Irwin’s first child was born. 5 years later his 2nd child Robert was born on the 1st of December 2003

During 1997 to 2004 he was the face of tv, magazines, books, merchandise and even more. Even though he was an Australian celebrity he was even more famous in the USA as all the Americans adored the Australian explorer in him. He had two siblings, Joy and Mandy Irwin who both did not contribute heavily towards Australia zoo. While he never had a scientific degree, he was still passionate to care and nurse for animals at his parent’s zoo, which undoubtedly brought him to become part of the zoo now known as Australia zoo. Now Australia zoo is owned by Terri Irwin, a member of the ZAA (Zoo and Aquarium

Association. Terri Irwin is the widow of Steve Irwin, since he had tragically passed away in an accident during 2006.

Steve Irwin had a whole wild life documentary series staring him and his astonishing skills with animals. He was the main tourist attraction at Australia zoo as all the tourists wanted to see the extraordinary crocodile tackler. Unfortunately, before his kids could even grow up to adult hood he passed.  On the 4 of September 2006, after swimming with a sting ray, he was pierced in the heart leading to his unfortunate death.  ‘Humility, I don’t think he wanted it to be a big deal’.  Because of those words, his funeral was held privately at Australia zoo. Many say he was either buried or cremated but neither have been confirmed.

In 2000, Lyn Irwin (Steve Irwin’s mom) fatefully passed away. Because of this Steve dedicated the wildlife hospital to her, which nurses, rehabilitates and releases over 7200 native Australian animals every year. After Steve took over the job of managing the zoo, just two days later his future wife walks through the gates as a tourist. She caught his eye, and the relationship started. They got married in Oregon on June 4, 1992. Steve invited her to embark on a filming adventure for his documentary series, ‘the crocodile hunter’. The mission for that specific episode was to relocate a problematic crocodile in north Queensland.

Steve Irwin gained most of his popularity from the wildlife documentary series ‘The Crocodile Hunter’ when it hit the Australian Tv screens in 1996, later making it to America, UK and over 130 other countries. Steve Irwin has the greatest achievement of all time which is having tackled well over 100 wild crocodiles. After he tackles, and captures the crocodiles, they are relocated and nursed at the newly established Crocodile Environment Park. As Steve grew up, his passion for the environment and wildlife became stronger and much more extreme to the point where no animal could alarm him. But nothing is permanent. Little did he know that the Great barrier reef would be the place to capture his last breath. We all commemorate his bravery, and we all look up to him as an Aussie ourselves.
