The sole purpose of education is to set students up for a successful life with moral and ethical values. When students cheat, they are not only gaining an unfair advantage, but they are lying to themselves. Cheating is unethical because it demonstrates that one is unprepared to deal with the adult working environment. Since they're not accustomed to working hard, students who begin cheating as a teen are likely to continue in adult life. Another significance is accountability; when one holds the title of doctor, lawyer, or engineer, they are accountable for their ability to perform within their profession. No one wants a doctor who cheated their way in Medical School. Although cheating may improve grades, it does not help in the long-term.

Cheating will lower confidence and self respect. Students who cheat end up losing a degree of personal integrity that is difficult to regain. It harms a child's self-image. Moreover, if one cheats by sharing their answers with peers, the act is unjustifiable because it doesn’t help the other student learn. They might as well be wasting their time in school if they are not learning anything. It portrays a form of disrespect to your professeurs. I do, however, disagree with the focus that school puts on grades. The main goal of a student should be learning to the best of their ability, but this is no excuse for forfeiting academic integrity. A teen is only depriving themselves of the opportunity to learn and discover their true potential.

It is the parents responsibility to teach their children that they won't make it in the real world if they cheat. Teenagers look up to their parents as powerful role models. What they do and say influences their child's behavior, perceptions, and opinions both now and in the future. If a child for some reason does not have a parent, then it would be the job of the person who assumes the parental responsibility to teach that kid right from wrong. Teaching correct morals to a child starting at a young age builds their character.
