In Midsummer Night's Dream, a big symbol in the book is the flowers. The flowers represent the difficulties of love and how it’s not how people portray it. The character puck uses this idea to the max. Uses his magic of the flower juice to turn the plot totally in a different direction. This creates the main conflict also known as the climax. In a Midsummer Night’s Dream William Shakespeare used the flower to create a conflict that shows how love is so hard to maintain and causes anger.

The flower juice causes Lysander to fall in love with Helena even though in reality he is in love with Hermia showing how obstacles and other people's opinions will always interrupt stable/healthy relationships and cause anger and conflict. This affects the plot since the love triangle has now drifted in a different direction.  Lysander shows this change when he falls in love with Helena when he says “Content with Hermia? No. I do repent/ The tedious minutes I with her have spent/ Not Hermia but Helena I love” (2.2 116-120). This shows how love is so hard to maintain since there is always an obstacle in your way of true success. This is what happened in this story. First, it was Egeus denying Hermia and Lysander love and marriage. Then after this to stop their love for each other once again Oberon and Puck put a love potion on Lysander's eyes so he will no longer see Hermia in the same way. This is showing how there will be people who want things their way and will do anything to stop your happiness. This shows how love is so hard to maintain since there will always be a conflict with others

In a Midsummer Night's Dream, Oberon puts the flower juice on Titania's eyelids  causing her to fall in love with the first person she sees. Oberon is upset and shows how their love is extremely hard to maintain since they argue about almost everything. This really shows when they are arguing over the Indian boy who owns custody. This causes Oberon to become furious.  Oberon finds Titania sleeping, and puts the drops on her eyes and says “What thou seest, when thou dost wake,/Do it for thy true-love take,/ Love and languish for his sake,/Be it ounce, or cat, or bear,/Pard, or boar with bristled hair,/In thy eye that shall appear/When thou wakest, it is thy dear,/Wake when some vile thing is near''( )He and Titania have been arguing over a boy, which Titania possesses and Oberon desires for his own. He decides to poor the love potion on titania causing her to fall in love with the donkey also known as nick bottom. When he is pouring the love potion on titania's eyes he says ''Be it on a lion, bear, or wolf, or bull,/ On meddling monkey, or on busy ape”. This leaves me to believe this is more than just a boy if he's wishing for these harsh punishments just because he can't have possession of a boy he doesn't even know and has no value to him. There has to be some type of connection between the boy and then Oberon and titania. Titania might not want the boy but just wants Oberon not to have him because she knows the indian boy can provide some secret value to Oberon we don't know about.
