There are numerous examples of symbolism and imagery in the book of Revelation. The use of symbols to represent ideas or attributes is known as symbolism. Symbolism is used in this work in a variety of ways. This book includes everything from significant numbers to monsters with six wings and eyes. The book of Revelation employs a variety of symbols to convey a certain viewpoint on God and Jesus.

The first appearance of symbolism in the book of revelation is a figure covered in white light, with a sword in his mouth, and around him are seven lampstands. The figure is believed to be Jesus and when the supposed writer “John” sees the figure he is told to write to the seven churches in the Mediterranean. Another symbol in the book is the appearance of four multi-eyed creatures. The multiple eyes on the creatures are believed to be a symbol of God's all-seeing abilities. Another creature appeared and what most interested me and what I believe to be one of the most important symbols in the book of revelation is the appearance of a lamb with seven eyes and seven horns (the number seven appears extremely often in the book). The lamb is believed to be a symbol of Jesus because it appears to be slain and Jesus is often called the “Lamb of God”. The previously mentioned symbols only skim the surface of the many symbols in the book of revelation.

The book has a large variety of symbols is what most piqued my interest. The large populous of symbols also was a challenge because of the complexity of the symbols. In the book of revelation, there are many connections to the real world. For example, as stated in the previous paragraph the appearance of the multi-eyed creatures and god's all-seeing eyes could be related to security cameras and how they can see everything. Another example could be the use of the number seven and how currently in life the number seven is considered to be “Lucky”. The many relations to real life through the symbols that the book has is absurd.

In the book, the symbols show how many things can have a reflection on real life. The book of revelation teaches us how to strengthen our faith by giving assurance that we will be protected against evil powers. The number seven occurs many times in this book. The number seven could be considered a good or a bad sign because the world was created in seven days but the seven deadly sins are seven sins. The word faith could be used in this book because we do not know for sure that any of the scenarios in the book happened. People learn about the book of Genesis and strengthen their relationship with God by going to church and reading the Bible.

In conclusion, the book of revelation had many symbols that portray a certain view of God and Jesus. Although the book seems absurd it actually is not; it brings a mystical feeling to the Bible. The book also allows people's imaginations to wander slightly. The symbols In this book carry a heavy toll on the feeling that this book creates. Symbolism in this book will keep being used and will be taught for a long time to come.
