The three texts (say texts) have shown a ton of dedications from the characters within these texts and movies. Chris Gardner from “Pursuit of Happyness” had become poor from spending his life savings on bone density machines. Gardner was hoping to strike it rich though soon realized how dire of a situation this was and Gardner was determined to get a job. Within Inherit the Wind there were multiple characters in popularity though in particular Drummond was not for his religious opinion. This caused backlash though in the end Drummond is religious though was fighting for freedom of speech.  The road not taken shows the importance of how one road less traveled may be the perfect one because in the poem the character had explained about not coming back. These three texts exemplify how the importance of being true to oneself is shown by the dedication and smarts these characters possess.

Inherit the wind shows dedication through Drummond especially when he does not stop trying to get in Mr. Brady's head even though Drummond is not well liked. Drummond puts his all into fighting this case because he strongly believes that everyone should have freedom of thought and be able to teach what they want. This town was religious and Cates was teaching Darwin which is why this trial was all the more popular. Later in the story the audience would mostly only clap for Brady which would let Drummond down though he had Dedication to help change these people and show them how freedom of thought would help them.“I’ve seen what you can do to a jury. Twist and tangle them. Nobody’s forgotten the

Endicott Publishing case—where you made the jury believe the obscenity was in their own minds, not on the printed page. It was immoral what you did to that jury. Tricking them.” Furthermore, Drummond does have strong dedication and the smarts especially in his past cases being able to make the jury believe that they were the problem.

The road not taken shows a great message through the smarts of the character choosing what looked to be the less popular path. Throughout the poem you learn how the character is feeling very mellow and relaxed. They end up deciding to choose a path the looked far less traveled on because of that, they like to travel on the least popular of paths. The character shows how smart they were as well saying that they likely would ever come back showing that they are moving forward. “I doubted if I should ever come back” (Frost 15) This quote shows the smarts in a way that you can infer because no one will want to stay lurking in the past. This also shows how much thinking the character had since picking what to do next is very important and can be challenging though they did choose a hard path just based on overgrowth, it must be harder to travel on.

“The pursuit of happyness” shows how much dedication and intelligence Chris Gardner puts in to help make a better life. Chris had a great home life in the beginning until his wife left him. Gardner was homeless at one point with his where he had to wait in a line for this homeless shelter and he would not always make it in. Gardner also shows him waiting outside of an office building for a month to show his dedication to pursuing a stock broker career. Furthermore, He had to sleep in a bathroom one night after all his money was taken from him and he and his kid had a rough night where someone was banging and he just sat there in silence crying. He still put dedication and used his smart mind to surpass what he would have thought he would be able to do by getting the job while having to leave work much earlier than everyone else because he has a kid to take care of and make it to the homeless shelter on time so he does not have to sleep outside.
