Technological Advancements in the World Essay Example

We are in the most rapidly improving era of history in terms of quality of life and modern society has changed in so many ways due to advances in technology in recent decades. But have all of these changes actually been good for the world? There is a lot of debate over this topic but I believe that the technological advancements in the world are the reason we have been able to be the society we are today. 

Firstly, the people of the world are closer than ever before since the spread of the Internet and social media across the world. Social media and the Internet lets us see what is happening around us and across the world. The Internet and social media of today allow us to talk to other people in ways that are more interesting and simpler than conventional talk and text. Next, technology is noticeably becoming faster and more effective every single year. Just five years ago, 4G data was considered very fast but in the past couple of years, but the rise of nationwide 5G data networks has made the previous generation obsolete in terms of speed. 

The increasing mobility and convenience of technology such as phones and laptops have also contributed to this rapid growth of communication. By the year 2010, the first modern smartphones such as the iPhone were already widespread on the market. For example, during school and many of the jobs that are in today’s workforce, we need a laptop or a transportable type of device to work on. In the past, we had to use a big monitor and a computer that had to be plugged into a wall outlet. Cell phones and mobile devices have created an amazing and easier way to communicate with people as now things like Facetime and video calls can be made with many apps. Communicating with distant relatives or people that we don’t see that often is now easier than ever and is sometimes even free with internet access.

These devices were seen as cutting-edge technology at the time due to new features. But today, these devices are quite simple even when compared to cheap devices today. This rapid improvement in portable technology has let positive and important ideas spread faster than ever before. Awareness for issues such as global warming has grown quite a lot in the past few years due to this growth of communication. 

Some may argue that modern society is changing too fast due to technology and that if technological growth were to suddenly halt, there will be thrown into chaos. But this argument is wrong because if growth were to slow down, the creativity of humanity will continue and find a way around the problem even if growth slows temporarily. Many of today’s jobs require technology and are needed in order to continue to support the daily work that is done. For example, for many newer model cars, there is a large amount of technology that can only be fixed or checked up on with newer machines, in comparison to many of the older model vehicles where it was a luxury to have electric-powered seats and electric windows. In vehicles used today, it is almost a requirement for them to include all the things in a base model. Not too long ago most cellular phones and devices came with small storage and also smaller batteries, yet now devices usually have a minimum of 32 gigabytes of storage and even wireless charging. Phones and cars each change as time changes and also as new technology is introduced, the same thing is directly done with society and their jobs.

To sum it up, the way technology has changed within our lives is directly responsible for all of the changes that have happened at the same time. People from all around the world can communicate with each other all while managing businesses from home, from buying things at Amazon to making a mobile order at many fast-food restaurants; we depend and use the technology in our daily lives in many ways that could have never been possible just a few decades ago. Technological advancements have created far more jobs and a demand for many new careers, overall contributing to the evolution of mankind’s way of life in modern times.
