Introduction

Technology is many years of laboring and perseverance but now we are enjoying its evolution. The development of technology has changed the world tremendously. If technology now was the same as ancient times, what would life be like in the twenty-first century? Technology has affected our lives, society, country, and internationally. Many of the occupations that did not require technology use in years past do require the use of technology today due to the ever-changing world. Following years of global use in business, medical, and education, the upgraded and continuous use of technology has improved and advanced lives. This research essay will explore the uses of technology in the twenty-first century. Technology has improved our lives drastically by increasing productivity in businesses, improving the quality of health care services, and enhancing teaching and learning processes in the classroom.

Technology has increased productivity drastically in many businesses. Technological tools assist in increasing profits, becoming more efficient, improving performance, and improving the quality of services and goods. Today’s businesses have the possibility of selling their products and services online, and therefore offering their products and services in the global marketplace (Fleisher and Bensoussan, 2007). Businesses that use technological tools are at an advantage and are reaping boundless benefits. Gera's (2004) study shows that information and communication technologies improve firms’ performance. Technology is a valuable asset to businesses. A study carried out by Ackroyd (1995) discovered that although information technology firms lack structure or lack hierarchy, these firms are highly successful in terms of sales turnover and value-added due to their adoption of upgraded technology. According to Chen, (2015), the development of working effectively with scientific and technological innovation employees also provides a continuous motivation for the growth of businesses in the forthcoming. Many successful businesses use different applications and software for marketing, communication, operating, filing important information or data, and meeting customers’ needs. QuickBooks, Microsoft Office, computers, the internet, phones, emails, social media platforms, cloud computing, and other applications used for system control are examples of IT applications and software. For example, Yao, (2005) the Xiaomi company has made use of the Internet as a technological product to sell and advertise, attaining twice the results with half the effort. An increase in new customers has boosted the capability to reach customers on a global scale and the co-promotion of local businesses, which enhances the image of small businesses in the region (Jones et al., 2015). The impact of technology on businesses can be related to global team-building initiatives. There are many innovations used every day for an increase in the efficiency level in various businesses.

The health sector has seen great improvement in the quality of services rendered to patients through the use of technology. There is a lot of technological equipment that is used every day to save lives. These IT tools and software will give hospitals, health care services, and clinics new insights into medicine, treatments, and quality care. There is evidence that CDS improves patient safety for medication prescribing (Campanella et al., 2016). Doctors and nurses who practiced many years ago are astonished by the newfound capabilities of technology. Some technological tools are improved laboratories, scanners, heart valves, infusion pumps, sensors, oximeters, testers, monitors, devices, computers, the internet, and dialysis machines. Overall, the findings suggest that IT improves patient safety, increases guideline adherence, and reduces the likelihood of death. Many patients now feel more secure with the services provided by health care providers than they did previously. McKenna et al. (2018) also find reductions in mortality after the introduction of IT in New York State. Technology has improved the efficiency of communications between doctors, nurses, clinics, and patients to exchange information and track and monitor their progress. McCullough et al., (2010) explain that the U.S. healthcare system is often criticized for miscommunication that leads to preventable medical errors and wasteful allocation, including part of the estimated 44,000 deaths annually due to inpatient hospital mistakes. For example, illegible handwriting on prescriptions that require a physician, a pharmacist, and a nurse to coordinate can be caused by giving the wrong medications and dosage due to a misunderstanding. These capabilities can improve medication adherence and reduce medication overuse (Atasoy et al., 2019). McCullough et al. (2010) report small but significant improvements in errors because CPOE (computerized physician order entry) offers a more efficient way for physicians to communicate orders that may help prevent mistakes. For example, these technological processes will check for drug allergies, drug interactions, and dosage errors through automated dosage calculators. These technological tools can also improve patient care with a lower rate of medical mistakes, surgeries, improved vaccines, better treatment, drug prescriptions, better dialysis, and analysis of sickness, infections, and diseases. For example, O’Donovan and Bersin (2015) explain how technology can play an important role in mitigating an Ebola outbreak or other diseases. It is clear to see that modern technology makes immense differences in health care services.

Technology improves the quality of teaching and learning in the classroom. Many new technological tools are being used in the classroom as resource aids. They are interactive whiteboards, computers, speakers, projectors, television, and the internet. According to Finger & Trinidad, (2002), technology-based offer numerous interesting strategies/methods to enhance the teaching and learning process which include educational videos, stimulation, storage of data, the usage of databases, mind-mapping, guided discovery, brainstorming, music, and the World Wide Web (www) that will make the learning process more meaningful and realistic. Teachers are no longer teaching within the four walls of the classroom, but rather through technology applications. ICT provides help and complementary support for both teachers and students when it involves effective learning with the help of computers to serve the purpose of learning aids (Jorge et al., 2003). Using technological tools helps enhance lessons so they are interactive, engaging, and energized. Despite the fact that ICT incorporation in schools aims to advance and increase the quality, accessibility, and cost-efficiency of the delivery of instruction to students, it also refers to benefits from networking the learning communities to face the challenges of current globalization (Albirini, 2006). Technology makes distance learning easier, online teaching better, presentation of interactive lessons, quality research, and completing assignments. The use of technology in education contributes a lot to the pedagogical aspects in which the application of ICT will lead to effective learning with the help and support of ICT elements and components (Jamieson-Procter et al., 2013). Technology in education helps students prepare for the careers and skills needed to be successful in the future. Technology integration nowadays has gone through innovations and transformed our societies, which has changed the way people think, work, and live (Grabe, 2007). Schools and other educational institutions that are supposed to prepare students to live in "a knowledge society" need to consider incorporating ICT in their curriculum (Ghavifekr, Afshari & Amla Salleh, 2012). Technology in classrooms has the potential to motivate students and enhance learning and teaching.

Conclusion

Technology has made strides in our lives radically by expanding efficiency in business, moving forward the quality of well-being care administrators, and improving educating and learning processes within the classrooms.

Much new technology software, tools, and equipment had accelerated the process of goods and services to be effective and increase rapidly in business. Health care services have advanced with the use of technology in unexpected ways; these ICT tools transform by helping save countless lives, low rate of medical errors, detect high-risk diseases and infections, and improve modern medicine.

Technology is everywhere and is used every time. More people should increase their knowledge on the use of new technology to increase the efficiency of their business locally and internationally. Experts should educate persons within their department on the proper use of technological tools and applications. Teachers should receive technological sessions and training so they can begin integrating technology into overall instructions on a daily basis.
