Temple Grandin, a person never expected to function on their own, to learn, or even speak, is responsible for some of the biggest inventions related to cattle ever! Temple Grandin had to learn how to deal with autism throughout her life. Each new thing was a struggle for her and required perseverance and hard work. Despite all this Temple Grandin had goals, stuck to them, and is the reason for many inventions

Temple Grandin was responsible for a lot but what were her main design principles. Temple Grandin was a person who had always loved animals ever since she was young. While she didn’t always imagine herself working with animals, she always loved and cared for them which you can tell based on the inventions that she had created later on in her life. Her designs were used to create a consistent, constant, and humane way of doing things regarding cattle.  One of her first and one of her most notable designs is the dipping pen. The dipping pen had always been a difficult, cost-consuming, and time-consuming process. Temple Grandin saw that most of these problems had arrived because of the strange emotions the cows were feeling during this experience. The cows were frightened and scared. This causes some cows to freak out and can sometimes lead to them drowning. Temple Grandin wanted to find a way to calm the cows and make it an easier, cost-effective experience as well.  She spent countless hours to achieve this goal.

Temples Grandin’s design principles. Temple Grandin always cared about the wellbeing of cows and her design principles show that. She takes into account emotion and natural behavior in her designs. This allows her to create far more advanced and more effective designs. Her first main area of studying was cows mooing and how they react to certain things, she studied what makes a cow do what it does. This is something that allowed for a big advancement because the feelings of cows and their emotions had become irrelevant to other designers. Temple Grandin learned that a soothed, more relaxed cow made it a lot more efficient.  She studied cows and their overall behaviors to make many cattle processes extremely more efficient.

Temple Grandin created lots of amazing designs but how did it affect the animal agriculture environment as a whole. Temple’s designs shifted the animal agriculture industry a lot.  It not only benefited people a lot and caused a lot more money for companies but it also helped animals. It lead to people caring more about the conditions that animals lived in and ways that they could help animals. It stopped many early mortalities for animals allowing them to live a much fuller life. It lead to other people being inspired by her and advancing more ways to help animals and people alike. Her ideas influenced a whole new era of animal agriculture. It lead to many more ideas and people being involved. Her ideas have made almost everything for animals more efficient. “Temple Grandin's influence on our industry has been significant.

By using her recommendations animals are moving better in barns, they move better up in trucks and down from trucks and pigs move better and more efficiently in packing plants. That is animals move more naturally from one point to another and overall just causes less stress to the animal. These animals, as a result, have less bruising, less injury, and overall better meat quality due to her recommendations.” (Farms.Com -Miles Beaudin.) This is an example of how Temple’s ideas have influenced the animal agriculture industry in countless ways.

Temple Grandin’s career is incredible, her influence on not only the animal agriculture industry is amazing, but her influence on the autism community is as well. (https://youtu.be/1qPFAT4p8Lc)  She went through a lot of struggles in her early life because of her autism. Back then autism was heavily misunderstood and a barely studied field. There was not much info on it. Because of this lots of children get sent away to institutions but luckily Temple Grandin wasn’t. Her mind didn’t function like other students, she thought in pictures instead of words. Because of this and the fact that other students bullied her she was drawn to the other programs in school. She loved horses and hands-on work that allowed her to use pictures. After high school, Temple Grandin struggled with what she wanted to do. She loved science but just couldn’t leave her passion for animals behind. This caused her to relapse in her decision and to go back to animals. Her being autistic and a woman in the animal agriculture industry was something pretty much unheard of at the time. It caused a lot more hardship. Temple knew however this is something that she loved and she knew she could do something with it. This is how Temple Grandin accomplished all that she did today.

Temple Grandin is one of the most revolutionary people when it comes to the Animal Agriculture business. She changed the way animals are treated which will have a lasting impact on the world forever. She didn’t just teach the world about animals but about autism too. Temple did something unheard of at the time by accomplishing what she did. She proved the capabilities of autistic people and revolutionized the world's opinion on autistic people as well.
