The Advantages and Disadvantages of Online Learning Essay Sample

Students all around the world either have internet access or don’t. Online Schooling has been happening for over two years all over the world. Online schooling could be beneficial but it is not the best because students can get many distractions during this time.

Students all over the globe either have internet access or don’t. This could be from being low income or they live in a bad neighborhood. With the lockdown from March of 2020 buildings such as libraries, restaurants, and other public places have been closed and people are unable to access those places. According to the source, “In Latin America, Europe, and North America, many students, who have no or poor home internet access, have relied on libraries, after-school study halls, and public spaces for access to technology and/or the internet to do their work. These spaces are now closed because of social distancing” As a result, students have no places to go to do their school work when they have no internet access to do their school work.

During school or even work everyone can get distracted from time to time. Think about how distracting doing school work can be when students are at home all day. The distractions from being at home are not so beneficial. According to Source 2, “it gives a student an opportunity to learn, it also distracts them. Once the educational lessons are done, they start surfing other things.” Students can have many distractions while learning online or digitally, may it being searching other things off topic from school or being distracted with other things.

Some may argue that online learning has not been in one’s favor with students but some believe that it's advantageous for students. People believe that it’s beneficial to do at home because it gives them access to cheat on their work. According to the source by UIS, “ The Virtual Classroom is accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Time efficiency is another strength brought by the online learning format. Asynchronous communication through online conferencing programs allows the professional juggling work, family, and study schedules to participate in class discussions. There is no question about doing the work; just do it at the times that are more convenient. Students can access their courses at any time of day or night.” It also helps students work at their own pace which could help loads of students. But however some students do not have internet access to do their work and they can get easily distracted. Some students prefer being taught face-to-face instead of virtual learning. 

Virtual learning has tremendously affected our country. From students being unable to do their work due to lack of internet or even distractions from being stuck at home. Some people believed it was a good alternative to face-to-face learning while others believed that it wasn't. Maybe before we know it everyone around the world will be back in face-to-face learning and not stuck at home.
