The environment and temperature play a vital role in how we live; unfortunately, within the past 150 years, the population has failed to cooperate in slowing the spread of global failure. However, thankfully, new scientists with new ideas have come up with a plan to moderate the spread of the global issue.

You may ask, why are most people worried about the glaciers and polar ice caps melting? It's just ice, right? Well, the glaciers and polar ice caps cover 70% of the water you observe in oceans, rivers, and creeks. You may be informed that they also hold around 30% of our land and reflect 90 to 95% of the sun's radiation. It's extraordinary, isn’t it? With the glaciers and polar caps melting and breaking off in the Antarctic, it affects other places too! Did you know that the effect of the glaciers' vanishing means that 50% of India's people were forced to flee the mountains because of the glaciers' disappearance? Why do you ask? Well, the glaciers are the controllers of the earth's temperature, so, with the climate heating and the glaciers and polar ice caps melting, this means that the temperatures and environment are all over the place. The people still there today are starving because the crops are blighted because of climate change.

Not only are people suffering, but the animals are too; the animals are moving from their homes because they can’t live in their environment anymore. I have no idea about you, but this all sounds so horrible.

The way we can help the environment and save people's and animals' lives is to eat less dairy and meat, cutting our usual consumption by 20%. Don't throw food away! It adds to our carbon emissions. Stopping throwing food away helps the environment extensively. Think of what the world would look like if we all played our part. Having a lively garden and planting trees is a terrific way to reduce carbon waste in the atmosphere. Using less plastic and more additional eco-friendly products also helps.

Now we are going to talk about Svante Arrhenius. Svante Arrhenius was the first human being to notice the threat of climate change. He was a Swedish scientist born on February 19, 1859, and died on October 2, 1927. He utilised the greenhouse effect. His climate change discovery was discounted by most people. However, the scientists who helped this Swedish discoverer were extremely concerned.

The hottest years ever recorded in history were 2020 and 2016. They tied for the most boiling years on the planet. 2020 had a temperature of 1.27 C above the average, and 2016 had a temperature of 1.25 C above the average, just -0.02 below 2020. Bearing in mind that the planet has an average temperature of 16 C. If we do not help our environment and our world, the only result will be global warming, which will be impossible to control!

Now here is a question you may ask. Who discovered the greenhouse effect? Well, physicist John Tyndall did. He did a series of studies on how the greenhouse effect works as well as carbon dioxide, methane, and a bunch of other elements too. He discovered the greenhouse effect in 1859. He was born on the 2nd of August 1820 and died on the 4th of December 1893.

Now I am going to talk about the effects that climate change causes: hotter temperatures, more severe storms, increased drought, a warming rising ocean, loss of species, not enough food, more health risks, poverty, and displacement. All these reasons can relate to the death and destruction of our planet. That's why it’s super important that we do all we need to help our planet!

Here we are going to talk about recent discussions between most of the world's presidents and prime ministers. Cop26 was a discussion about how we were going to deal with climate change before 2030. It means changing our environment by using more eco-friendly products to get rid of fossil fuels and other products that are harmful to our planet. Most governments and presidents/prime ministers were going to get rid of 80% of all products harmful to the planet before 2030. However, some other countries weren't going to do anything till 2060. The worrying factor was that the countries that were not doing anything were also big polluters, so tackling climate change might not be as effective. Yet, other countries have convinced some to slow the spread now that the average due date for a country is 2050. Still, we need more action, and that's why we all need to help. The future is in our hands!

These causes are mostly ruining the environment. Number one is petrol cars. If 12.5 km is 1 litre and it is a little bad for the environment, imagine when everyone does this. It turns out to be remarkably bad for the environment and speeds up global warming, which is worrying. Number two is dairy, meat, and farming. I'm sorry to all farm lovers, but farming is another terrible way to speed up climate change. Cow farts and other farm products produce methane. Methane is a gas that gets caught up in the atmosphere for more than 10 years, and it makes the environment worse for breathing and could cause serious health conditions.

Now here is something I think is completely pointless: burning a bunch of forest wood outside. Worse than fires in your homes, burning a load of forest wood is another way to speed up global warming. How? Well, lots of farms have a lot of pests, fungus, weeds, and seeds. Although some of these reasons make sense, I see these fires at farms every day and I think they need to cut their burning at least by 80% to keep temperatures below the 1.5 mark.

And another thing that is important for the survival of our planet is coral reefs. Coral reefs are an underwater ecosystem in which all ocean life thrives and builds homes. Unfortunately, in the past years, the coral reefs have been decreasing in numbers, and soon there may be none left. Without coral reefs, we may see a population of fish dying and a lot more sea creatures too. Life on earth would be hard without coral reefs, so I hope you understand that it’s vital we help our empowering planet and fight global warming.

Fossil fuels are one of the worst fuel sources in the world; they contain gas, oil, coal, and other harmful elements too. Fossil fuels contribute to carbon that gets trapped in our atmosphere, creating a blanket barrier around the Earth that can trap carbon for more than a century.

Now, in conclusion, we know the earth and its temperatures are vital for our safety, and that leaves us with ideas, reasons, and self-hope that maybe one day we will restore the planet to its former, reliable self.

I hope my essay gives you a better understanding of the effects that climate change is having on our planet, and I hope this makes you change some of your ways in the future to reduce your carbon footprint.
