The article of The Frivolity of Evil (Dalrymple et al., 2019) argues the evil he sees in his time as a doctor. He tries to see where evil comes from and how humans don't reason to see the  consequences of our choices even when one knows them. The start of the article tells how his job as a doctor for the less fortunate has caused him a lot of trouble mentally. In his article, he supports his argument about seeing patients with depression and so many other traumatic injuries he saw. They were all caused because of the choice people made.

The doctor working for 14 years, sees the troubles and the unhappiness of people he sees in his office. He seems to be "altruism a concern for the well being of others independent of any self-interest" (Burnor and Raley 91). An example is how the woman in his office don't seem to grasp the consequences of their own mistakes and keep making the same mistake. One woman had babies from 4 different men, and she kept having children and knowing that her children would end up the same way as her. It was as if they were blind at telling what was right from wrong. The doctor wanted to tell the man and woman to think about their choices and break the chain. If they know they were unhappy and depressed, why continue to make the same mistakes repeatedly. Society has a massive influence on their lives, and evil is everywhere.

I agree with the doctor. He saw how people would be depressed, and the world was evil, but they could control it if they just reasoned. Today, we try to raise our children the best we can to be good citizens and make the best choices with the best outcome for all. In conclusion, I agree with the doctor that we all would like to know how to prevent evil and what makes people make such bad choices that put others at risk and a chain that never ends. So I want to study and determine how we should be raised if the environment is at fault. Or religion or the lack of fear of our God, I don't understand why the evil in the world just can not be prevented. We would all be happy if it could, and no crimes would be committed. We could sleep with our doors open with no fear of the outside world, like making people go into their heads and make good choices and decisions. It would be good if we could turn on a switch to where we all can be good and no evil, to where people can have the capability to see and make a choice with the best outcome for all.
