The Godfather part 1was made in 1972 and is known as an American classic. The entire movie along with its two predecessors, centers around a mob organization known as the Corleone Organization and its head mobster known as “The Godfather” Vito Corleone. Despite the quite violent theme, it is the theme that makes the movie so powerful and intriguing to people for them to watch. The analytics that are present throughout the duration of the movie set a violent and intense theme that predicates all the movies that are included in the three-part installment. The first movie is the most powerful because the audiences gain an insight of what it means to be part of a mafia organization and what its members are capable of.

In the opening scene, viewers begin to gain a general understanding of the amount of power that the main character holds. A man by the name of Amerigo Bonasera whose daughter was brutally beaten and raped by young men. The reason that he turns to Don Corleone is because he holds incredible power in the mafia underworld and insights fear in anyone who dares to cross him. Loyalty to Don Corleone or better known as “godfather”, is shown to be always expected no matter what the cost of it is.  Despite the violence that ensues in the Corleone family “organization”, viewers gain a powerful insight that there is a strong bond, and the family members will do everything and anything to keep the family safe and together.

When Vito Corleone is killed, the audience gains a true insight of what it means to risk losing everything to seek vengeance and justice for the loss of the loved one. The loss of the head of the organization also sets the tone for the movies that follow the first part, and it influences all the events that occur in the rest of the first movie. Although the violent theme is quite apparent throughout the entire movies’ duration, there is another theme that is subtly present in an odd and twisted manner which is loyalty. The theme of loyalty is not the traditional type of loyalty that viewers might first think of. In the instance of the movie, given that it involved the mafia and the individuals in the entire organization kill people for a living, it is shown that every member of the Corleone family and organization will be protected no matter the cost. There is quite a bit of irony that takes place throughout the movie’s duration in that although every member has either killed someone or ordered a hit on someone, plausible deniability or some sort always gets them out of being caught. The very end of the movie is the scene that is the most powerful because it shows the true vengeance that takes place. The irony however that is involved with how vengeance and revenge for the death of Don Corleone is obtained is that Michael the youngest son becomes the head of the organization and is being baptized as the godfather of a loved one’s child. As the christening is taking place in a religious setting, a great deal of violence is also ensuing. The irony of these two events coinciding with rqxh other is quite apparent because a christening is a religious event while violence is anything but.
