Forests take up about a third of the land on Earth, they are home to animals, trees, plants and even humans living in it. Forests around earth are a gift human and has given a lot over the years. However, recently due to urbanization and extraction of many recourses forests have been starting to get cut down at a significant rate otherwise known as deforestation. Deforestation is an issue that is important to highlight because it leads to negative effects such as loss of habitat for wild animals and shortages of food. The earth is already starting to experience these effects from deforestation and at the rate its going now in the future it will keep getting worse.

First, the world is losing animals due to deforestation. Cutting down trees and recourses from the forests takes away animals' food, habitats, and water. Animals depend on that to live on but without it, it makes staying alive hard for animals leading to the decline in population of animals in the forests. According to World Animal Foundation, “The world is losing 137 species of plants, animals and insects every day to deforestation. A horrifying 50,000 species become extinct each year.” (“Extinctions”). While that is a lot of species being extinct, the number is going to keep rising year after year if the rate of deforestation continues as it is. That’s why more focus should be put on this rising issue.

Secondly, forests are a major supply of food for humans, and with deforestation the supply of those foods starts to get lower and begins to create food shortages. This is a major issue because as humans we need to eat, we need food to live on, from the plants we eat or the animals we eat and even nuts are all to diminish in number from deforestation. Pachamama states, “... Effects of deforestation is the loss of animal and plant species due to their loss of habitat. 70% of land animals and plant species live in forests... In deforested areas, there is less water in the air to be returned to the soil. This then causes dryer soil and the inability to grow crops.” (“Deforestation”). Nature's cycle can break soon and lead to many issues for humans. It's important to stop this because with food shortages it makes life harder for people.

In conclusion, Deforestation is an issue that is becoming more substantial over time. It is important to put an end to this because it leads to major problems like food shortages, and the loss of resources and shelter for wild animals. It may be a challenge for humans to halt something that has already done major damage. However, working together anything is possible and, in this situation, it would be needed for the greater good of humanity and nature.
