The Impact of Geography on People's Lives Essay Example

How does geography affect people's lives? This essay will go over how geography acts like barriers, makes it easy/hard to do trades, and how people build different types of buildings in different parts of the world because of geography. 

The first way that geography affects people's lives is that it acts as a barrier. What that means is that oceans, mountains, canyons,  and other things prohibit or limit the movement to get from one place to another. Someone might now need to build a boat if they came across an ocean or might need to walk even longer if they came across a canyon or mountain.

The second way that geography affects people's lives is that it can make it hard or easy to trade with different people around the world. People used to travel around the world to trade things with different people. It would become easy if the ground was perfectly flat and there was a road all the way to their destination. But it was not always like that, they might have had to take a boat all the way there because they had to cross the ocean or because the only way to get there was through the water. Sometimes people also had to walk around the mountain or maybe even climb the mountain just to trade things.

The third and final way that geography affects people's lives is that in different parts of the world people build different homes. When someone lives in a place that is cold or gets really cold people had to build homes that kept their family warm and a home that could last long cold winters. If someone lived in a warm place they would build a house that was cold and could keep cold in. They might also have homes made out of dirt or mud while people who live in a cold climate might have ice or snow.

During this essay, you learned that geography has barriers, makes trading hard/easy, and how different people build different homes depending on where they are in the world and those are just a few of the many ways that geography affects people's lives.
