The Impact of the Industrial Revolution Essay Example

The industrial revolution affected many things, like people’s lifestyles, their economy, and their technologies. This was mostly because the revolution brought many new things and introduced new ways of manufacturing. Along with several new technologies that significantly simplified some things. 

As industrialization occurred and people deviated from agriculture, factory work seemed to be on an increase, as people would work in factories instead of farming or handcrafted goods. The factories themselves allowed many people to work, which was not limited to just adults as some children worked in them, and allowed for people to make some money. Although they worked long hours and in most situations, they were placed in horrible working conditions. As the factories continued to gain more workers the earlier forms of work began to decrease; making the factories the main focus, and although the increase in employment allowed for more people to make money, there were harmful consequences to the increase in industrialization.

The revolution allowed for prior agrarian societies to reform to one more focused on machine manufacturing and industry. Although this increase in industrialization allowed for a higher rate of employment, the gap between the rich and the poor seemed to have widened, as those who were poor worked in the factories for little pay and would have to be responsible for their injuries. While the people who owned said factories would gain more money and thus increase the disparity of income between the two. But the revolution did not only bring about an increase in disparity, as it also brought along rapid urbanization, an increase in population, and allowed for small towns to boom into cities.

One of the bigger changes of the industrial revolution would be the technological advances brought about by it. This increase in technological advancements aided by the creation of manufacturing processes and machinery served to increase the rate of industrialization. Of course, the technological advancements did not only bring good things, as they led to more widespread employment in horrible conditions. Industries would bring around factories to towns, with the newfound forms of transportation that allowed for this to become more easily accessible than it had previously been. As these factories were built in towns, all kinds of people, ranging from children to adults, would work in factories; which would range from factories focused on metallurgy with the newfound processes of making steel at a cheaper rate and using it, to textile factories focused on the production of fabrics at a high speed.

In all, the Industrial Revolution changed things from a person’s everyday life to the way they work and even the way their society would function. This led to some injustices within the workspace and created a great disparity between the classes of people, but it also helped in increasing the efficiency of, and use of technology.
