As the world is growing, generations are changing constantly, and expectations are increasing. However, this is the real world; no one is going to wait around for young adults to get their life figured out. A college degree is mandatory for these accommodations and fitting in to being a “successful adult” will require a post-secondary education. Other than procuring great amounts of knowledge, college gives you years of interacting with people who are similar to you and putting in their effort to satisfy their needs. Many teenagers feel as if they need another option other than college, but that option doesn’t guarantee becoming fortunate enough to provide for anyone including ourselves. Improving this “default” education could lead to modifications in the schooling institution and throw out some of our greatest methods needed for scholars to comprehend as an individual. It’s mentioned as well that the only defect of skipping college is that you cannot get a high paying career with no degree. That is a major cause in every student’s lives because we want to have career satisfaction and have purpose of working to be financially stable. McWhorter mentions considering if people can forget about college and go to start their ideas, but not every person can do that. It’s a matter of luck and to be frank most people are not original. That idea is too controversial, it throws off the whole purpose of being successful in your life and developing creativity. Inspirations from people such as Bill Gates who did not attend college boost people’s egos into thinking they will be able to do similar and rely on that idea. In our society, many students are first generation college students who need to obtain the opportunities to grow as an advancement and impact the economic or civic factors in communities. They cannot stick to this idea hoping for the best, which is what most postgraduates will feel to do. College should be attained in a manner since it is beneficial to the future of the cognition we will hold as a humanity.

Yet, much of what you complete in high school is not enough to start securing a university education. The environment and work ethic required is divergent.
