High School, the best and worst years of your life, meant to shape you into a functioning member of society. Each day shaping who you are as a person. You not only learn textbook material, you learn about people. High school gives you the opportunity to make friends, make mistakes, and learn how to be a better person.

During high school, I always stay to myself, never really making friends. However, I wouldn’t really call them friends anymore, family is a better term. Lexy and Madison have been my saving grace during my years in high school. I wouldn’t trade the world for them. Each experience and memory I have with them has changed me as a person, teaching me how to trust. Each day is always filled with laughs and love. I met Madison in seventh grade and we’ve stuck together since. I met Lexy my freshman year. Sophomore year we all had lunch together and we’ve been a trio since.

In high school, I had a few teachers that have changed the way I think. Firstly, Mrs. Berry, I had her for the first time my freshman year for Into to Human Studies, that class taught me about what humans need to survive. But, Mrs. Berry taught me to be compassionate to others. She’s been my mentor through high school, when I needed advice I would go to her. I loved her class and the way she talked to others so much that I would take her class every year for the rest of high school. When my mom fell ill and I stopped attending, she would text me, asking me how mom and I were doing. She’s a teacher sent as a gift from the angels. Secondly, my senior year English teacher, Mr. Davis. Being the second teacher to express care for his students. Willing to take the feedback of his students seriously. Despite my attendance my senior year, Mr. Davis still expresses his care by texting me when I’m out.

High school has taught me many life lessons alongside the curriculum, trusting people has always been hard and school has taught me that placing trust wisely is very important. It’s also taught me how to interact with others. Every single day is a new opportunity to learn something new about those around you and yourself. Introspection could say that individuals learn more from themselves than others. Allowing reflection to grow is an important lesson I wish I would’ve learned sooner.

In conclusion, high school molds and shapes people into different people based on their own personal experiences. Allowing people to flourish into their own person, spreading their wings and becoming independent. Teaching us the valuable lessons of life. Creating member society with details taught from experience and teaching. Many memories we’ll never forget.
