Statistics has been a vital part of our society because without it we really wouldn’t know where our faults and potential improvements would be. Nowadays, in everything we see and read, we often encounter statistical data in the form of graphs, charts, and facts. Statistics is an application we encounter in our lives every day as it’s used in the science field, social sciences, and business.

We encounter statistics in our lives as we use it quite frequently in the science field as it provides us a better understanding of a specific matter, accurate descriptions of any issues within the field, and helps in proper and efficient planning. Firstly, we use statistics in the sciences because it provides us with a better understanding of a specific matter. For example, statistics help doctors keep track of where the baby should be in his/her mental development. Here, we see how statistics can provide a better understanding of a specific matter by helping us monitor the progress of our learning in this case it was the mental development of the baby. Secondly, Statistics helps formulate accurate descriptions of any issues within the fields. For example, when an aspiring organic chemist tries titration for the first time, he/she/they often aren’t successful the first time and their titration often doesn’t end up the way they want it which is not supposed to happen. In this case, the chemist can use statistical data to see what trends lead to the mistake and work around it to get the results they need. Here, we see how statistics helps formulate accurate descriptions of any issues within the fields because without it the solutions to most problems would most likely never be fixed, and in this case, if statistics weren’t there, the chemist would have a very hard time figuring out the titration keeps turning pink. Thirdly, in the field of science, statistics help in proper and efficient planning. For example, when civil engineers are about to take on their next project, they often consult statistical data to understand the surfaces they’re going to build on. Here, we see how statistics helps in proper and efficient planning because without it, scientists would have a hard time with planning their work/experiments efficiently and we see that in the case of the civil engineer because if he/she/they didn’t use statistics when examining the surface, it would of lead uncertainties which result in devastating consequences. Therefore, we encounter statistics in our lives as we use it quite frequently in the science field as it provides us a better understanding of a specific matter, accurate descriptions of any issues within the field, and helps in proper and efficient planning.

The application of statistics is a practice we encounter quite often in the social sciences field because it is used to make decisions for policies, study social changes, and answer pressing questions in terms of culture. Firstly, statistics are seen in the social sciences field because it is used to make decisions for policies. For example, when policymakers propose a new idea or plan, they often consult statistical data as evidence to explain why their proposal is effective. Here, we see how statistics is beneficial when making decisions for policies because without it we wouldn’t be able to experience the policies/laws that benefit and protect us. Secondly, the application of statistics has been an integral part of studying social changes. For example, statistics is a common tool used to monitor the reactions of people after a policy or law is enacted. A recent example of this is the Ontario vaccine mandate placed on workplaces, public venues, gyms, and recreation centers. Statistics can be here to show people the percentage of supporters, unbiased people, and opposers. Here, we see how statistics is important when it comes to studying social changes because statistical data like this could be a vital piece of evidence to combat an unfair/unjust policy or the law. Thirdly, statistics can be used to answer pressing questions in terms of culture. For example, many high school seniors about to graduate are starting to question the value of higher education for many reasons like high tuition prices, career prospects after graduation, and much more. Here, it is evident how statistics could answer this question because it can use mathematical representations like graphs, charts, percentages, and statistical facts to show how higher education is beneficial for these students’ futures. Therefore, the application of statistics is a practice we encounter quite often in the social sciences field because it is used to make decisions for policies, study social changes, and answer pressing questions in terms of culture.

Statistics is a vital addition to business as it is used to describe markets, help in efficient advertising, and respond to changes in consumer demand. Firstly, the application of statistics is used in business to describe markets. For example, statistics is a tool when describing markets because it uses mathematical representations and surveys to show analysts current trends, changes in customer spending, and show how the business can adapt and restructure their business model. Here, it is evident how statistics can be beneficial in describing markets because businesses could use statistics to view the trends of their markets and could tailor their business model toward that trend which results in more customers and revenue. Secondly, statistics is a very beneficial when it comes to efficient advertising. For example, statistics can used to identify the best consumers to target which result in cost-effective ways to advertise to them. Here, it is evident how statistics can be helpful in efficient advertising because business owners/analysts can see the types of customers they get, trends in their market, etc. They could use this information as advertising content to attract existing customers and attract potential customers which often results in more revenue for the business. Thirdly, statistics is very useful when responding to changes in consumer demand. For example, a business could use statistics to see what products are currently popular within their customers and they could use that information to make the product more available. Here, it is evident how statistics could be useful when responding to changes in consumer demand because business owners could use this information to see what trends/changes are happening with their customers. Therefore, statistics is a vital addition to business as it is used to describe markets, help in efficient advertising, and respond to changes in consumer demand.

Although, statistics isn’t something we pay that much attention to in our daily lives, its’ a very useful tool that helps us when making decisions. Statistics has also been a very helpful for not just specific fields but for people as it’s educated them on what’s right and wrong using mathematical representations. Therefore, statistics is an application we encounter in our lives every day as it’s used in the science field, social sciences, and business.
