The Longest Running Tv Series in Us History Essay Sample

The Simpsons, created by Matt Groening on December 17 1989, is the longest running TV series in history. The Simpsons Series has  713 episodes and 33 seasons in all of its release date till 15/11/21.  The Simpsons originated from a skit on the Tracey Ullman show, people began to like this and it became a big hit. In this essay I will go over the history of the Simpsons, a few of the characters in the show, conspiracy theories about the show, and the iconic show possibly predicting the future. 

Starting off, The 67 year old Matt Groening originally came up with the yellow skin color of the Simpsons to grab the watcher's attention. He wanted to catch peoples eye so they didn't skip past. “Groening further revealed how he wanted his cartoon to be eye-catching. When one is flipping through channels, he wants the bright yellow color of The Simpsons to catch their eyes and make them go back to watch it. Bart Simpson aka Bartholomew JoJo Simpson is a very defiant character, Homer's ten year old son is known for always causing trouble. Matt first came up with  Bart and the Simpson family in 1986, he was  waiting in the lobby of producer James L. Brooks' office. Matt  had been called in to pitch a series of animated shorts for The Tracey Ullman Show. he  had intended to present an adaptation of his Life in Hell comic strip. Bart's character is drawn by Matt Groening, and voiced by Nancy Cartwright. Bart is not just a mischievous child who never learns much, Bart actually knows three languages, a few of these languages being armpit noises and possibly French. Next is Lisa Simpson , Bart's younger sister. Lisa Is an 8 year old girl who shows a lot of maturity and smarts the show.  Lisa loves playing her saxophone. A fun fact about Lisa that not many know is that Lisa is actually Buddhist.she came upon this religion in episode 6 season 13. Lastly,  Lisa's full name is actually Lisa Marie Simpson. 

The Simpsons besides being known for the amount of time its been on air isatually the theory that the Simpsons can predict the future. This theory has been made from a few instances, in the episode “Bart to the future” it showed Donald  trump winning the presidency years before he ran for office.  Another instance was when they predicted the 2014 outbreak of Ebola 17 years before it happened. In a scene from the episode "Lisa's Sax," Marge offers Bart who got sick to read a book titled "Curious George and the Ebola Virus." The virus wasn't very widespread in the 1990s, but years later it the top of the news agenda. Ebola was first discovered in 1976, and though this latest outbreak has been the worst yet, it killed 254 people in the Democratic Republic of Congo in 1995 and 224 in Uganda in 2000.
