The Lorax by Dr. Seuss is a satire for many ages. A story of The Lorax that represents the trees and how he is affected by the Once-ler, a person who does not care about the trees, only money.  The Lorax is a story about a kid, Ted who wants to know about trees. So, he goes to the Once-ler who tells the story on him cutting down trees to make shneeds in which he sells. Then the Lorax appears from the sky to save the trees and the animals. The Once-ler was oblivious this and ended up cutting down all the trees. The author coveys the theme that the newest generation can care for nature through the characters of the Lorax, Ted, and the Once-ler.

To start, the Lorax is represented allegorically by representing the trees. The Lorax represents the personification of nature. He says this once he realizes that the Once-ler is cutting down trees and taking animals homes. This proclaims on how the Lorax cares and wants to protect the trees. He also has a passion in protecting them. The Lorax says: “I am the Lorax. I speak for the trees, for the trees have no tongues. And I’m asking you sir, at the top of my lungs-”(Seuss). Another piece of evidence that expresses the Lorax cares for the trees is: "I'm the Lorax who speaks for the trees which you seem to be chopping as fast as you please.

But I'm also in charge of the Brown Bar-ba-loots who played in the shade in their Bar-ba-loot suits and happily lived, eating Trufula Fruits”(Suess). This happens right after the Once-ler is selling the thneeds to people. This shows his passion for nature once again. This also shows he doesn’t just represent the trees, but he represents everything. The Lorax has some ways he shows his allegorically meaning is nature.

Second, Ted is the main character in The Lorax and he wants to know why they’re no trees and what happened to them. Ted represents the current generation in wondering what is happening in the world. This shows how Ted was a wondering character. He was full of questions and wanted to know how things happened. Ted then wonders to the other side of the town and where no fake trees are and dead grass and depressed then he says: “What was the Lorax? And why wasn’t it there? And why was it lifted and taken somewhere from then far end of town where the Grickle-grass grows? The old Once-ler still lives here” (Suess). Then, Ted like his adventurous self finds a stump. He then wondered: “And deep in the Grickle-grass, some people say, if you look deep enough you can still see, today, where the Lorax once stood” (Suess). Ted is a character who wonders about the trees.

Last, the Once-Lear is just a character who doesn’t care. The Once-ler represents the capitalist movement that caused destruction. The Once-ler in this quote shows how nice it was back before they cut down all the trees. When Ted was adventurous and wanted to know what happened to the trees he heard the Once-ler is the one to ask. Then the Once-ler told him the story: “Way back in the days when the grass was still green and the pond was still wet and the clouds were still clean, and the song of the Swomee-Swans rang out in space... one morning, I came to this glorious place. And I first saw the trees! The Truffula Trees! The bright-colored tufts of the Truffula Trees! Mile after mile in the fresh morning breeze.”(Suess). This quote shows how the Once-ler was oblivious and didn’t care. The next quote is later when The Lorax appeared out of the sky after the Once-lee took down a tree. The Lorax was offended since he represents the trees and the Once-ler says: “‘Look, Lorax,’ I said. ((There's no cause for alarm. I chopped just one tree. I am doing no harm. I’m being quite useful. This thing is a Thneed. A Thneed's a Fine-Something-That-All-People-Need! It's a shirt. It's a sock. It's a glove. It's a hat. But it has other. uses. Yes, far beyond that, You can use it for carpets. For pillows! For sheets! Or curtains! Or covers for bicycle seats!”’(Suess). This shows that the Once-ler was oblivious to everything going on.

The author conveyed the theme in which the author wants the future generations to understand nature and what would happen if we don’t care for it by using Ted, The Lorax, the Once-ler. The conveyed theme that you can see what things effect the environment. Though, that this book was made a long time ago it still and needs to be discussed in the common generation because people seem to not care.
