Jr high, Jr high is a turning point in most kids' lives. Jr. high is where kids learn what they do and don’t like whether it’s in people, movies, books, or food. My 7th grade year I learned my likes and dislikes in the book world. I learned that I prefer romance books over scifi, fast paced books over slow, long chapter books over short stories, and books set in fictional settings rather than nonfictional. From learning these things I was able to find my favorite book, The One from The Selection Series by Kiera Cass. While some may say the book is too detailed and emotional, I like the book The One by Kiera Cass because the in depth writing of the emotions felt in the book is phenomenal, there are several different characters and viewpoints, and the word choice of the settings and actions is very elegant and not too wordy.

The Selection Series has a total of four books overall. This book fits well within my realm of likelihood. After finishing the series I came to the conclusion that The One was my overall favorite. The reason why this writing piece is my favorite is because it was a fictional romance that took place over several chapters, if not in books. I like the way the book described the main character's feelings towards the love interest.

Using certain descriptive words in books can lead to the readers feeling similar emotions to the characters’ emotions. This book represents the heart of the series bringing to light the love story, as well as the drama and hardships behind it. While reading this book I could feel the projected feelings of love, passion, heartbreak, and sadness. One of my favorite quotes from this book is “Break my heart, break it a thousand times, it was only ever yours to break anyway”, this quote is said by Maxon, a royal guard who is not supposed to have relations with the main character, America. They have a forbidden love for each other, and even though you're not in that setting you can imagine as if you were the main character.

I remember when I first started reading The One; when I found the book in the library I thought it was gonna be girlier than I liked, however the book was very much the opposite. The only reason I checked out the book was because I had to do a book report. When I brought the book back to the class and started reading I was hooked within the first chapter. It started out different than I had expected. I read and read until the bell rang. I was surprised how wrapped up I got in the book. I even continued reading the book as I walked out of the classroom and into the halls to my next class.

The One by Kiera Cass was a book I wasn’t expecting to be good, however I was pleasantly surprised. I have loved the book since the first chapter. The written piece was filled with highly descriptive words, along with interesting story plots. I could follow smoothly, allowing my brain to imagine as if I was there, as if it was me. This book signified my adventures in finding the books I liked. I hated books before, and now I love to read them here and there.
