The Perils Of Indifference By Elie Wiesel Essay Example

Elie Wiesel uses cause and effect as a way to show his audience that America could have done things differently than they have done. Elie’s view of America's indifference shows the event’s causes and their effects on American society. As said by Elie Wiesel himself, “These failures have cast a dark shadow over humanity: two World Wars, countless civil wars, the senseless chain of assassinations (Gandhi, the Kennedys, Martin Luther King, Sadat, Rabin)”. Elie Wiesel uses this cause and effect rhetorical strategy to open American's eyes to indifference in the country. Elie Wiesel says that indifference makes us human but different causes in history separate one’s cause and effect from another. To this he analyzes the cause and effect of indifference due to Terrorists actions and Americans selfish point of view on power. .At a point, Elie Wiesel even says “What will the legacy of this vanishing century be? How will it be remembered in the new millennium.” He is basically saying how we want to be remembered isn't  as some power hungry mad human being or good.Elie Wiesel engages his audience by his words making them analyze America's cause and effect throughout history.
