Australia has several positive impacts on its cities due to urbanization, including more business and jobs opportunities. Sydney is one of the biggest cities in Australia and is famously known for having a range of occupations as well as business opportunities for people. This persuades more people to migrate to or visit Sydney to find a better future for themselves and their families. Furthermore, another major consequence of urbanization is pollution. Littering is common in urban areas and is the main cause for many issues including loss of flora and fauna. Not only does this harm the unique nature in cities like Melbourne, but also pollutes the air which can cause further health problems. Australia

also has some cities with urban sprawl, including Perth. Urban sprawl can have many consequences such as higher water and air pollution, increased traffic jams, and loss of agricultural capacity. Japan has benefited from urbanization in several ways, such as having a more sustainable environment. Osaka is one of the most sustainable urbanized cities in Japan. 10% of their energy comes from renewable energy sources, and carbon dioxide levels are always being checked regularly. This has a positive impact on Japan as it helps them keep a clean and environmentally friendly country. Urbanization in Japan has caused young people to migrate to cities such as Tokyo and bring innovative ideas with them. This has a positive effect on Tokyo as it can lead to several inventions like the bullet train and robots. This shows that

Urbanization is a source of development as said in the quote above. Adding on, urbanization has helped Japan achieve better education and transportation services for people living in cities like Osaka and Hiroshima. This reflects the quote, “It has great power to change and improve lives” as more people have gotten a better life because of urbanization.

Urbanization has had many consequences in Japan, such as overpopulation. Overpopulation is a common problem in cities like Tokyo and can significantly affect the health of citizens, as staying close to each other may spread germs. It also makes living in comfort harder as the population density of Tokyo is 5752 people per sq. km. As well as this, urbanization has also been the main cause of poverty in Japan, particularly in Osaka. Due to the large population, local governments are unable to provide services for all people. This can lead to many people without a home. It is known that Osaka has 2500 elderly workers, and 1300 of them are homeless. This can have a negative impact on Japan’s economic status and growth. This is a challenge that was mentioned in the quote.

Urbanization is a driving force as well as a source of development. It has great power to change and improve lives. Urban areas are at the heart of many great challenges, opportunities and promise”. This  quote summaries both the positive side of urbanization and the negative.
